FinOps Engineer

FinOps Engineer responsible for continuous cloud cost optimisation and operational FinOps execution across Azure environments.
The role focuses on day-to-day FinOps operations, implementing cost optimisation actions, maintaining governance controls, and ensuring adherence to NTT continuous FinOps service standards.
- Execute daily/weekly Azure cost monitoring and optimisation activities
- Track consumption trends, anomalies, and budget thresholds
- Perform cost hygiene activities.
- Maintain cost allocation tagging compliance (Azure Policy driven)
- Support monthly billing reconciliation and variance analysis
- Creating various required dashboards and experience billing data modelling
- Implement:
- Azure Reservations (RI) lifecycle management
- Azure Savings Plans
- Azure Hybrid Benefit
- Rightsizing recommendations (VMs, App Services, AKS)
- Storage tiering and lifecycle optimisation
- Work with engineering teams to remediate inefficiencies identified in FinOps reviews
- Operate and support:
- Azure Cost Management + Billing
- Azure Advisor recommendations
- Develop basic automation using:
- PowerShell / Azure CLI
- IaC (Bicep / Terraform – implementation level)
- Maintain cost dashboards and reporting pipelines
- Enforce FinOps guardrails:
- Tagging standards
- Budget alerts
- Azure Policy compliance
- Support implementation of standard FinOps playbooks defined by NTT
- Generate:
- Weekly cost reports
- Optimisation tracking reports
- Support FinOps review meetings with:
- Engineering teams
- Project managers
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience in Microsoft Azure cost management
- Experience using Azure Advisor recommendations
- Azure budget, alert, tagging, and policy compliance experience
- Experience implementing optimisation actions (not just recommendations)
- Basic scripting (PowerShell / Python/Terraform/Bicep)
- Power BI / Excel / dashboard reporting experience
- Knowledge of Azure services (Compute, Storage, Networking)
FinOps Skills
- Cost monitoring, optimisation execution
- Budget tracking and variance analysis
- Tagging and cost allocation basics
Certifications
- FinOps Certified Engineer preferred
- Azure certifications (Fundamentals) preferred
