Title:
Specialist, IT Software Asset Administration (SAM)KBR is seeking a Software Asset Management (SAM) Specialist to support the administration, tracking, and compliance of software assets across the organization. This role will assist with software lifecycle processes, maintain accurate asset records, support licensing compliance activities, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure effective software asset management practices.
The successful candidate will work closely with IT, Procurement, Finance, and software vendors to support software asset operations, maintain data quality, and contribute to process improvements within the Software Asset Management program.
This is a full-time position based in India and may support both local and global operations.
In September 2025, KBR announced that we are spinning our Mission Technology Solutions business into a separate public company. This role will ultimately be part of the new company. The Mission Technology Solutions business partners with governments and defense, intelligence, space, aviation, and critical infrastructure customers to deliver high-end engineering, science, technology, and mission support solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the administration and tracking of software assets throughout their lifecycle, including requests, deployments, renewals, reclamation, and retirement.
- Maintain accurate records of software licenses, subscriptions, contracts, entitlements, and installations.
- Assist with software asset management activities using ServiceNow SAM Pro or similar asset management tools.
- Support software reconciliation, entitlement management, normalization, and reporting processes.
- Monitor software usage and help identify opportunities for license optimization and cost savings.
- Assist with software license compliance reviews and support audit readiness activities through data gathering and documentation.
- Help maintain accurate and audit-ready software asset records in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with IT, Procurement, Finance, and business teams to support software asset management operations.
- Support software purchasing, renewal tracking, invoice validation, and contract administration activities.
- Generate and maintain reports, dashboards, and metrics related to software assets, licensing, and compliance.
- Assist with resolving software asset and licensing inquiries from internal stakeholders.
- Support data quality initiatives by validating software inventory, contract, and entitlement information.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and data accuracy.
- Stay current on software licensing and asset management practices and apply established procedures consistently.
Basic Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience in Software Asset Management (SAM), IT Asset Management (ITAM), software licensing, IT operations, or a related discipline.
- Experience working with asset management systems, software inventories, or license tracking processes.
Technical Skills
- Basic understanding of software asset lifecycle management principles.
- Familiarity with software licensing models, including SaaS and subscription-based licensing.
- Experience using ServiceNow, ServiceNow SAM Pro, or similar asset management platforms preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel for reporting and analysis.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining asset and license records.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting software asset management, license compliance, or IT asset management initiatives.
- Familiarity with software vendors such as Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle, VMware, or similar enterprise software providers.
- Working knowledge of procurement, contract administration, or software purchasing processes.
- Experience supporting software audits and compliance activities.
- Exposure to cloud software licensing environments, including Microsoft 365, Azure, or AWS.
- ServiceNow, ITIL, or related IT asset management certifications are a plus.
