Job Description

Product Associate - Mortgage

Help modernize the US mortgage lifecycle by turning real business needs into high-impact, AI-enabled product capabilities. In this role, you will partner across business, product, technology, and data science to define outcomes, shape requirements, and deliver measurable improvements. You’ll drive clarity from ambiguity, connect end-user needs to technical execution, and help scale responsible innovation in a regulated environment. If you thrive at the intersection of mortgage operations, product delivery, and emerging AI/GenAI capabilities, this is a high-visibility opportunity to make a direct impact.

As a/an Mortgage AI Product Business Analyst (Agile) in Consumer & Community Banking (CCB) – Mortgage, you will serve as a critical bridge between mortgage business stakeholders and technology teams delivering new product capabilities. You will translate complex mortgage process and regulatory needs into clear requirements, process models, and well-structured user stories, enabling efficient delivery through agile practices. You will also support AI/ML/GenAI use cases across the mortgage lifecycle, ensuring solutions align to measurable business outcomes (e.g., improved customer experience, reduced cycle time, improved straight-through processing, reduced defects, improved quality/compliance) and are implemented with appropriate controls.

You should possess strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills, with experience in both product development and the mortgage/lending sector.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze business requirements for product development.
  • Identify process inefficiencies and propose solutions aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Experience working on AI/ML/GenAI use cases across the mortgage lifecycle, aligning them to measurable business outcomes (e.g., reduced cycle time, improved STP, reduced defects, improved customer experience, improved quality/compliance).
  • Document requirements, process models, and system specifications, converting them into actionable user stories.
  • Work with IT and other departments to implement system changes that meet business goals.
  • Support testing and validation, representing end-users during User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Practice agile methodologies, including story mapping, backlog management, and adherence to scrum ceremonies.
  • Partner with Product Managers to elaborate features and ensure user stories meet readiness and completion criteria.
  • Lead communication between business and technology teams to define product features and project milestones.
  • Ensure all documentation is current, compliant, and meets regulatory standards in the mortgage industry.
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions to enhance team understanding and user adoption of new products.

Required qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • 6+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Product Analyst, Product Owner, or similar role supporting technology-enabled product delivery.
  • 3+ years of experience in the mortgage/lending industry, with demonstrated understanding of mortgage operations and workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather, synthesize, and translate complex stakeholder needs into clear requirements and user stories.
  • Proven experience working in agile environments, including backlog management, story mapping, and participation in scrum ceremonies.
  • Strong ability to influence and align cross-functional stakeholders, including business, product, technology, operations, and risk/control partners.
  • Experience supporting testing and validation, including UAT planning/execution and defect triage in partnership with technology teams.
  • Demonstrated AI product development fluency as a Product Owner/partner, including experience delivering AI-enabled features or partnering closely with data science and ML engineering teams, translating business problems into AI-suitable requirements, and familiarity with model evaluation and monitoring concepts (e.g., quality/accuracy, drift, operational performance).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to produce high-quality documentation and present to senior stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including strong skills in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Hands-on experience with JIRA and Confluence for agile delivery and documentation management.
  • Experience using process modeling tools such as Visio and/or Lucidchart.

Preferred qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Strong end-to-end US mortgage expertise spanning origination, underwriting, closing/funding.
  • Strong understanding of US mortgage products.
  • Working knowledge of key US mortgage regulations and control expectations, with the ability to operationalize them into product requirements (e.g., TRID, RESPA, TILA, ECOA, HMDA, FCRA, SAFE Act, AML/BSA considerations, state-specific requirements).
  • Experience with GenAI and LLM-powered workflow augmentation in enterprise settings (e.g., summarization, classification, search, chat, document understanding, and knowledge retrieval) with appropriate business and operational controls.
  • Understanding of responsible AI practices in regulated lending contexts, including bias and fair lending risk considerations, privacy and security expectations, governance, auditability, and explainability requirements where applicable.
