The opportunity

At Hitachi Energy, we are looking for a skilled and driven SAP Basis Specialist to join our Global SAP Center of Excellence (CoE). In this role, you will be responsible for architecting, optimizing, and governing SAP landscapes running on SAP HANA Database and Microsoft Azure Cloud platforms. You will play a critical role in ensuring secure, scalable, and high-performing SAP environments while driving technical excellence, operational efficiency, and innovation across the organization.

You will collaborate closely with enterprise architects, infrastructure teams, functional consultants, business stakeholders, and external partners to deliver robust SAP solutions that support Hitachi Energy's global business operations and digital transformation initiatives.

How You'll Make an Impact

• Design, review, and optimize SAP systems hosted on SAP HANA and Azure Cloud platforms.
• Establish SAP Basis standards, governance frameworks, best practices, and operational policies to ensure performance, security, and maintainability.
• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to SAP architects, developers, and functional consultants.
• Review and approve technical specifications and infrastructure designs for SAP solutions.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including architecture designs, implementation approaches, and operational procedures.
• Ensure compliance with SAP security standards, data governance policies, SOX requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
• Manage and support SAP S/4HANA infrastructure and connected environments as a core member of the SAP CoE team.
• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the global SAP support model.
• Provide expert-level SAP Basis support and leadership to functional and technical teams.
• Monitor SAP components and infrastructure to ensure high availability, reliability, and business continuity.
• Design and implement secure SAP landscapes aligned with enterprise architecture and cybersecurity standards.
• Plan capacity requirements, system sizing, performance tuning, and infrastructure growth strategies.
• Partner with functional teams to convert business demand into technical specifications and implementation plans.
• Track and report operational KPIs, service levels, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Drive adherence to service quality, productivity, and operational performance targets.
• Define and implement processes, tools, standards, and governance mechanisms for efficient Basis operations.
• Provide strategic oversight for SAP platform evolution, deployment, expansion, and modernization initiatives.
• Support global SAP S/4HANA deployment programs and operational reporting activities.
• Manage large-scale SAP environments serving approximately 40,000 global users.
• Coordinate SAP Basis operational support, vendor management, issue resolution, and escalation handling.
• Foster a culture of innovation, automation, and continuous improvement across SAP operations.
• Work closely with Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure, Security, and Functional teams to ensure alignment with business objectives.

Your Background

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in SAP Basis administration, support, and operations.
• Hands-on experience supporting SAP S/4HANA environments.
• Strong knowledge and administration experience with SAP HANA Database.
• Experience managing SAP workloads on cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
• Deep understanding of SAP architecture, system landscapes, integrations, and platform operations.
• Proven experience in SAP system monitoring, performance tuning, upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle management.
• Strong knowledge of SAP security concepts, data governance, and compliance requirements.
• Experience working with high-availability and disaster recovery environments.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and guide SAP Basis teams in a global environment.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to challenge conventional approaches, drive innovation, and support organizational change.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage effectively with business and IT leaders.
• Experience managing external vendors and global service delivery models.
• Fluent in English with strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong commitment to quality, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
