Job Description

VP- Central P&A - CCAR & Earnings

Candidate Responsibilities

Capital Stress Testing (CCAR / Risk Appetite)

  • Lead the end-to-end stress testing model lifecycle (design, development, implementation, change governance, and periodic review) in line with firm model risk management standards.
  • Provide oversight of model methodology, ensuring alignment to business fundamentals while maintaining empirically supported relationships and defensible evidence.
  • Partner with Model Risk, LOB Risk, and LOB Finance to ensure complete coverage of relevant streams/accounts, consistency across forecasts, and avoidance of double counting.
  • Establish and drive ongoing model performance monitoring; proactively recalibrate/enhance models as business mix, macro, and geopolitical conditions evolve.
  • Leverage deep knowledge of CIB legal-entity booking models to quantify and explain stress impacts at the legal-entity level.
  • Own and deliver key CCAR outputs (including consolidation of CIB CCAR financials) to support internal analysis and regulatory submission timelines.
  • Review outputs across time periods, scenarios, and methodologies; challenge results, identify drivers, and recommend overlays/adjustments where appropriate.
  • Present clear, decision-oriented insights to senior leadership (e.g., CIB CFO/CRO) and downstream stakeholders (e.g., Corporate Capital Stress Testing), balancing qualitative narrative with quantitative support.
  • Own regulatory reporting delivery (e.g., FR Y-14), ensuring adherence to FRB/OCC instructions and external reporting standards; ensure submissions are timely, accurate, and well-controlled.
  • Drive cross-functional execution with partners across Risk, Finance, Treasury, Technology, and Data to deliver recurring cycles and high-priority ad-hoc initiatives.

Legal Entity Planning & Analysis

  • Lead legal-entity P&L budgeting and forecasting, combining business judgment with historical performance and economic outlook.
  • Provide senior-level variance analysis and narrative; explain actuals vs. forecast, key drivers, and forward-looking implications to stakeholders.
  • Partner with Product Control to understand booking mechanics, attribution drivers, and structural changes impacting the outlook.
  • Continuously refine forecasting frameworks to improve accuracy, stability, and transparency of results.

Earnings & Competitor Analysis

  • Lead preparation and review of quarterly earnings disclosures (Earnings Presentation, Press Release, Earnings Supplement) for assigned scope.
  • Draft/review MD&A (Management Discussion & Analysis) content for 10-Q and 10-K (as applicable), ensuring consistency of messaging, drivers, and disclosures.
  • Produce competitor benchmarking and strategic insights on key CIB peers (financial performance, drivers, and strategy).
  • Deliver monthly/quarterly performance commentary with a management perspective on trends, risks, and actions.

Controls & Process Excellence

  • Maintain a strong control environment (SOPs, control checks, audit trails) and ensure effective governance over key tools/processes.
  • Lead change management for evolving requirements (e.g., FRB instruction updates, expense guidance changes, additional scenarios), including impact assessment and implementation.
  • Drive continuous improvement and re-engineering to enhance efficiency, reduce operational risk, and strengthen end-to-end accountability.

Desired Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will bring a strong blend of analytics, technical capability, and executive communication, with deep experience in financial analysis and risk management within CIB. Qualifications include:

  • 10+ years of experience in financial analysis, stress testing, or risk management within a Commercial & Investment Bank.
  • Proven track record managing complex financial models and delivering senior-ready insights.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and analytics tools (e.g., Excel, Databricks, Python).
  • Experience with stress testing frameworks, legal-entity regulations and booking models, and regulatory reporting requirements (FRB, OCC).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and identify insights and improvement opportunities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present complex information clearly and concisely to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Experience preparing documentation and supporting materials for regulatory exams and audits.
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and collaborate effectively across Risk, Finance, and Technology.
  • Experience leading technology initiatives to improve financial processes, controls, and reporting.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a rapidly changing business and regulatory environment, with a proactive improvement mindset.
