What does a great Senior SQL Server Database Administrator do at Fiserv? 

A great SQL Server Database Administrator at Fiserv will be part of a team that builds and maintains large-scale and very high transaction SQL Server databases on Windows Server platforms. 

The SQL Server DBA will focus on setting up SQL clusters in an azure environment. The DBA is responsible for tasks such as development of best practices and repeatable procedures for deploying databases, day-to-day operational activities including break/fix, capacity management, backup and recovery, database replication setup/management and ongoing database change reviews. to as well as other SQL Server Databases. 

What will you do? 

•    Provision and configure SQL Server instances for both new and existing products. 

•    Analyze BAU work and automate L1/L2 tasks 
•    Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases. 
•    Plan, implement, and maintain replication strategies. 
•    In depth analysis of performance, identification of areas of improvement, and implementation planning. 
•    Prepare documentation, procedures, and specifications. 
•    Handle common database procedures such as upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, etc. 
•    Profile server resource usage, optimize and tweak as necessary. 
•    Installation, configuration, and support of SQL Server Integration Services, Reporting Services, and Analysis Services. 

What you must have: 

•    Bachelor’s degree in computer sciences / any major with 12+ years administering and maintaining SQL Server OR Master’s degree with 3+ years’ experience. 

•    Scripting – PowerShell, Python, and shell scripting. 
•    Knowledge of de-facto standards and best practices in SQL Server 
•    Strong proficiency in SQL Server database management and administration including with large scale SQL Server databases. 
•    Hands on experience implementing and maintaining Always-On Availability Groups is required. Knowledge of additional replication models in a plus. 
•    Hands on experience implementing and maintaining SQL Server encryption models including TDE, Always Encrypt, SSL connections, etc. 
•    Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL/T-SQL queries and jobs. 
•    Experience with backup and recovery strategies. 

•    Monitoring and alerting solutions 

•    Problem solving attitude 

 
What would be nice to have: 

•    Certified SQL Server DBA is a plus.  

•    Basic Azure architect knowledge
