Ready to combine hands-on network engineering with practical team leadership? We are looking for an experienced Senior Network Engineer who can guide colleagues, coordinate delivery and still enjoy getting close to the technology.

ASSA ABLOY Global IT manages shared infrastructure, global applications and security for globally delivered solutions. We operate in a multi-sourcing environment and work closely with internal customers, strategic partners, suppliers and colleagues across the world.

In this role, you will join the Global IT Network Services organisation, part of the Infrastructure team. Your main focus will be wireless and LAN services, while your wider network perspective will help the team deliver stable, secure and future-ready services.

About the role

You will be a senior technical contributor and a natural team lead for the WiFi and LAN area. You will help the team plan and prioritise work, coordinate technical activities, and ensure consistent and well-aligned delivery.

This is a role where leadership is combined with means stepping away from engineering. You will work hands-on with architecture, design, implementation, troubleshooting and documentation, while coaching colleagues and creating a collaborative, accountable way of working.

You will also act as an important link between engineers, customers, service management and external providers. By turning requirements and operational feedback into practical improvements, you will help develop global network services that provide real business value.

The wider team supports infrastructure services across WiFi, LAN, WAN, Remote Access, DDI, firewalls, load balancing, web security and monitoring, providing opportunities to collaborate broadly between teams.

What you will do

• Provide day-to-day technical leadership for the team, including planning, prioritisation and coordination of work.
• Coach and support engineers, encourage knowledge sharing and help the team grow its technical capability.
• Acting as a contact for network infrastructure within all the global regions.
• Work closely with customers and colleagues worldwide on service enquiries, incidents, changes and improvements.
• Collect requirements and feedback from customers and stakeholders, then translate them into practical solutions.
• Contribute to common network architecture, design standards, roadmaps and service catalogue development.
• Review service performance, metrics and SLAs, and be able to lead improvement activities when needed.
• Present technical findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Keep processes, operational routines and documentation clear, current and useful.
• Involved and influence in 24/7 operation optimization vs delivery.

What you bring

We are looking for someone with strong technical skills who is confident taking the lead and works well with others. You can organise work in a clear and practical way without adding unnecessary processes. You also understand how to meet today’s operational needs while continuing to improve services for the future.

• Proven experience as a team lead, technical lead or senior engineer who has coordinated and guided others.
• At least ten years of experience in network infrastructure, including significant hands-on work in projects or complex enterprise environments.
• Very strong knowledge of LAN, WiFi, routing and switching.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco wireless technologies, including WLC, Catalyst Center and Cisco ISE.
• Experience working with global service providers, partners and distributed teams.
• A good understanding of service management, SLAs, operational processes and continuous improvement.
• Strong skills in technical design, documentation, troubleshooting and stakeholder communication.
• A customer-focused, structured and proactive approach.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Nice to have

• Experience with agile ways of working.
• Background in customer-facing engineering, consulting, professional services, presales, post-sales or product development.
• Experience contributing to service roadmaps, service catalogues and vendor evaluations.
• Relevant Cisco certifications or equivalent practical expertise.
