Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities of Role:

• Oversee the design, installation, and commissioning of all systems to ensure compliance with industry standards and project requirements
• Collaborate with PMC , architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate systems seamlessly into the overall project design
• Develop and implement innovative solutions to enhance energy efficiency and sustainability in MEP systems
• Manage budgeting, cost estimation, and procurement activities
• Conduct regular site inspections and quality audits to ensure the highest standards of workmanship and safety
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the GC partner and other stakeholders team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development
• Stay updated on industry trends, codes, and regulations related to MEP systems and incorporate best practices into project designs
• Coordinate with project management teams to ensure timely delivery and successful handover of MEP systems
• Ability to lead a design and independently manage design consultants. Must have delivered MEP design/ design management for Hospitality led mixed use development, retail, office etc. With at least one full cycle of experience - Concept till site completion.
• Experience of coordination with senior management, development authorities, govt agencies and similar stakeholders Must have exhibited design and design coordination skills with various design stakeholders like structure, landscape, traffic, MEP etc
• Strong project management skills. A thorough understanding of agreed project outputs, resource management, specific team responsibilities, tracking issues and risks, internal and external communication and escalation.

Design Coordination & Management

• Lead end-to-end coordination of architectural, MEP ,Structural & not limited to design activities across mixed-use, hospitality projects , retail .
• Ensure alignment between design intent, business objectives, project requirements, and execution strategies.
• Coordinate with architects, structural consultants, MEP consultants, landscape designers, interior designers, and project teams for integrated design delivery.
• Manage design interfaces and resolve cross-functional design conflicts during project development.
• Provide technical expertise in engineering aspects 
• Review and approve all design deliverables, ensuring they meet project requirements, industry standards, and regulatory compliance

Design Review

• Review concept, schematic, detailed design, and construction drawings to ensure compliance with project objectives and design standards.
• Validate architectural layouts, space planning, elevations, façade treatments, building massing, and technical specifications.
• Review consultant submissions and provide recommendations for design optimization and enhancement.
• Ensure design consistency across multiple phases and project locations.

Technical Governance & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with local authority regulations, development control regulations, building codes, fire and life safety standards, and statutory requirements.
• Verify adherence to sustainability and green building design requirements.
• Support design approvals, technical clearances, and regulatory submissions.
• Maintain design governance frameworks and quality control procedures.
• Ensure all designs comply with local, state, and national regulations, including environmental and safety standards
• Conduct design reviews and implement value engineering to optimize solutions and reduce costs while maintaining quality
• Identify potential design risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize their impact on project delivery

Project Execution 

• Provide architectural design support during project execution and construction phases.
• Conduct site reviews and monitor implementation to ensure compliance with approved drawings and design intent.
• Resolve technical and design-related issues arising during construction.
• Review RFIs, design changes, material approvals, and shop drawings.

Stakeholder & Consultant Management

• Manage relationships with architectural consultants, design agencies, technical experts, and project stakeholders.
• Conduct design review meetings and ensure timely closure of design-related actions.
• Facilitate communication between design, projects, procurement, planning, sales, marketing, and business teams.
• Track consultant deliverables against agreed timelines and quality standards.

Design Quality & Innovation

• Drive design excellence through adoption of industry best practices and innovative architectural solutions.
• Evaluate emerging trends, technologies, materials, and construction methodologies.
• Promote value engineering initiatives while maintaining design integrity, project quality, and customer experience.
• Develop and implement standard design guidelines and architectural benchmarks.

Planning, Budgeting & Reporting

• Monitor design schedules and ensure timely completion of architectural deliverables.
• Support budgeting and cost optimization initiatives through design efficiency and value engineering.
• Prepare management reports, design progress reviews, risk assessments, and project status updates.
• Identify and mitigate design-related risks impacting project timelines, cost, or quality.

Qualifications

Educational Qualification

B.E. / B.Tech in Civil 

Preferable PMP / certifications in BIM, QS, quality, contract administration or specific design domains .

Experience

• 15 + years of experience in Project execution , design management for large-scale real estate developments ( Mixed Use building , Hotel , Retail , Office Convention centre).
• Proven experience in commercial, mixed-use, township, 5 star hospitality, or high end finishes.
• Strong exposure to design coordination & Site coordination across multidisciplinary consultants and project teams.
• Experience in managing projects from concept planning through construction and handover.
• Should bring strong technical depth and translate standards into usable execution frameworks.
• Technical design, costing, BIM, quality systems, innovation and contract administration.
