Engineering Analyst, YouTube Trust and Safety
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience in data analysis, including identifying trends, generating summary statistics, and drawing insights from quantitative and qualitative data.
- 2 years of experience managing projects and defining project scope, goals, and deliverables.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree in a quantitative discipline.
- 2 years of experience or familiarity with one or more of the following languages: SQL, R, Python, or C++.
- 2 years of experience or familiarity with machine learning systems.
- Experience creating opportunities to innovate, conceptualize and complete while working with global teams. Experience collecting, managing and synthesizing large datasets and information from disparate sources, statistical modeling, data mining and data analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Whether understanding and solving their online content concerns, navigating within global legal frameworks, or writing and enforcing worldwide policy, the Trust & Safety team is on the frontlines of enhancing the YouTube experience, building internet safety, and protecting free speech in our ever-evolving digital world.As an Engineering Analyst on the YouTube Trust and Safety team, you will be directly responsible for ensuring that we effectively identify and remove disruptive content and users as quickly as possible, in an environment where hundreds of hours of new content is uploaded every minute, globally. You will be passionate about technologies and have experience with analyzing large scale data and scaled systems of review. You will thrive in a fast, dynamic, demanding environment where no two days are ever the same. You will be a key contributor to the strategy for reducing network badness on YouTube. You will be an independent, critical thinker with sound metrics judgment who has a passion for coaching others, solving technological tests and setting scalable standards. You will balance the short-term requirements we face while demonstrating the ability to see the big picture and make quantitatively based long-term recommendations accordingly. You may require on-call work at weekends on a rotational basis. Responsibilities
- Perform fraud and spam investigations using various data sources, identify product vulnerabilities and drive anti-abuse experiments to prevent abuse. Work with engineers and interact cross-functionally with stakeholders to improve workflows via process improvements, automation and anti-abuse system creation.
- Design and refine prompts for LLMs to improve their accuracy in identifying and classifying abusive content and behavior.
- Apply advanced statistical methods to large complex datasets to understand the impact of abuse to the YouTube ecosystem. Contribute strategy and development of new workflows against additional known vectors of abuse.
- Learn complex and technical concepts and systems and deliver meaningful results using them. Communicate highly technical results and methods.
- Maintain, foster and promote quality by providing regular feedback metrics to the Global team. Manage technological solutions for streamlining quality assurance and produce scalable training solutions to emergent workflows.
