Job Description MidLevel Linux Engineer

Role Overview

Were looking for a midlevel Linux Engineer to support the installation configuration maintenance and troubleshooting of business applications across Linux environments The role is suited to someone with strong handson Linux administration experience and a practical understanding of application deployment and operational support

Youll work closely with infrastructure application security and development teams to deliver reliable services and resolve technical issues efficiently

Key Responsibilities

Install configure and maintain business applications on Linux servers

Perform application deployments upgrades patching and version management

Manage Linux operating systems including user administration file systems permissions processes and services

Troubleshoot application installation and runtime issues across development test and production environments

Analyse system and application logs to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions

Configure and validate application prerequisites including

Operating system packages

Libraries and dependencies

Runtime environments

Environment variables

File systems and mount points

Network connectivity and ports

Automate routine installation and administration activities using shell scripting or similar tools

Support service startup shutdown monitoring and recovery procedures

Coordinate with application owners and vendors during deployments and incident resolution

Maintain installation guides operating procedures configuration records and technical documentation

Follow change incident problem and release management processes

Apply security and compliance standards including leastprivilege access patching and vulnerability remediation

Participate in oncall or outofhours support arrangements where required

Required Skills and Experience

36 years of experience in Linux system administration application support or infrastructure engineering

Strong handson experience with Linux distributions such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux Oracle Linux CentOS Stream Ubuntu or similar

Practical experience installing and configuring enterprise applications on Linux

Good knowledge of

Shell scripting preferably Bash

RPMYUMDNF or APT package management

Systemd and service management

File systems permissions and process management

TCPIP networking DNS SSH and firewall concepts

Log analysis and performance troubleshooting

Experience supporting application dependencies patches and middleware components

Familiarity with installation packages response files configuration files and environmentspecific parameters

Ability to troubleshoot issues independently and engage the right technical teams when escalation is needed

Understanding of IT service management practices and controlled production changes

Strong written and verbal communication skills
