Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

  • Responsible for the comprehensive management and technical evaluation of critical Trim, Chassis & Fittings (TCF) equipment. This includes overseeing Assembly and Intershop Conveyors, Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS), Manipulators, Engine and Rear Axle Decking Systems, along with various lifting and material-handling equipment used within the manufacturing processes.
  • Lead the preparation of Request for Quotation (RFQ) documentation, finalising scopes of work, and performing thorough supplier technical evaluations to ensure all equipment meets stringent quality standards and project specifications.
  • Develop, review, and maintain both Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and Machinery Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (MFMEA) to proactively identify potential risks, assess their impact, and implement effective mitigation strategies to enhance operational reliability.
  • Coordinate and manage equipment installation and commissioning activities, ensuring strict adherence to project timelines, prompt resolution of punch list items, and successful completion of all critical deliverables associated with equipment deployment.
  • Work in close collaboration with suppliers and plant teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during installation and commissioning phases, fostering strong communication to minimise downtime and optimise equipment performance.
  • Implement and continuously refine maintenance strategies, including Preventive Maintenance (PM), Time-Based Maintenance (TBM), and Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM), to improve equipment reliability, availability, and lifecycle efficiency.
  • Provide hands-on technical support to production personnel, addressing daily operational challenges related to equipment functionality, and ensuring swift resolution of unforeseen equipment failures.
  • Support project execution across multiple manufacturing plants, demonstrating flexibility to travel and adapt to diverse site conditions as necessary, while maintaining high standards of technical delivery.
  • Apply interdisciplinary knowledge, involving civil engineering principles, electrical systems, and industrial automation, to facilitate smooth equipment installation, integration, and ongoing maintenance activities.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives within the equipment domain, leveraging data-driven insights, feedback from operational teams, and emerging engineering practices to enhance equipment design, reliability, and overall plant performance.

Education Qualification

  • Bachelor of Engineering degree specialising in Mechanical, Automobile, or Production Engineering, equipping candidates with foundational knowledge essential for managing complex manufacturing equipment.
  • Alternatively, a Diploma in Engineering in Mechanical, Automobile, or Production disciplines may be considered, with a strong preference for candidates demonstrating substantial practical expertise and technical acumen.
  • Additional qualifications in Tool & Die Technology or Die Design through diploma programs will be highly regarded, reflecting specialised skills pertinent to tooling and equipment calibration.
  • Educational background should be complemented by relevant coursework or certifications in maintenance management, quality control, or project management to enhance the candidate’s capability to oversee equipment lifecycle and project execution efficiently.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development is encouraged, with opportunities for advanced training in automation technologies, safety standards, and emerging manufacturing practices within the automotive and manufacturing sectors.

General Experience

Applicants should possess between 4 to 8 years of substantive experience in industrial environments, specifically within Stamping, Tool & Die operations, or Plant Engineering. This period should demonstrate progressive responsibilities and hands-on involvement with the management and optimisation of manufacturing equipment and systems.

Experience in the automobile or manufacturing industry is highly advantageous, due to the specific demands and technical requirements characteristic of these sectors. Familiarity with automotive production lines, equipment installation, and plant maintenance protocols will contribute significantly to job success.

The candidate is expected to have a robust understanding of equipment evaluation, risk assessment methodologies such as PFMEA and MFMEA, and practical implementation of maintenance strategies to enhance production uptime and quality.

Proven capability in coordinating multidisciplinary teams, supplier engagement, and project management across multiple locations is essential, supported by experience in travelling and adapting to varying plant environments.

A track record of applying cross-functional engineering knowledge—including aspects of civil engineering, electrical systems, and automation technologies—to resolve complex technical challenges will be considered an asset.

The role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to sustaining high standards of safety, compliance, and operational excellence within a dynamic manufacturing setting.
