Job Title:  Senior Developer

 

Position Summary:

EY’s GDS Indirect Tax Global Trade Technology team’s mission is to develop, implement and integrate technology solutions for Global Trade that better serve our clients and engagement teams. As a member of EY’s core Tax practice, you’ll develop a knowledge of Global Trade, outstanding database and programming skills to develop and maintain innovative solutions.

 

Essential Functions of the Job:

• Analyze the existing ASP.NET Web Forms application to identify areas for improvement in UI, data handling and security practices.
• Ensure the application adheres to information security best practices and standards.
• Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans to identify and mitigate potential security risks.
• Implement security measures such as data encryption, secure authentication, and authorization protocols.
• Estimate technical effort, work breakdown structure, risks and solutions at a solution level
• Migrate the application to ASP.NET Core, ensuring a seamless transition while maintaining functionality.
• Implement AJAX and client-side frameworks (e.g., Angular, React, Vue.js) to enhance user experience and responsiveness.
• Optimize SQL queries and data access patterns to handle large volumes of data efficiently.
• Design and implement caching strategies to improve application performance.
• Develop a Web API layer for data interactions, decoupling the UI from the data access layer.
• Utilize asynchronous programming patterns to improve application responsiveness.
• Implement data virtualization and batch processing techniques to manage large datasets effectively.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
• Monitor application performance and user interactions to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement.

 

Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:

• Ability to clearly articulate both problems and proposed solutions
• Proactive approach to identifying issues and presenting solutions and options, and where appropriate, leading to resolution

 

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

 

Languages & Frameworks:

• Proficient in C# and ASP.NET Web Forms.
• Experience with ASP.NET Core.
• Experience with client-side frameworks (Angular, React, Bootstrap).

 

Database Technologies:

• Strong working knowledge of SQL Server, including query optimization and data access patterns.
• Experience with Entity Framework or other ORM tools.

 

Web Technologies:

• Proficient in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Experience with AJAX for partial page updates.

 

Development Practices:

• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and Git version control systems.
• Understanding RESTful API design and implementation.

 

Performance Optimization:

• Experience with caching strategies (e.g., Redis, in-memory caching).
• Knowledge of data virtualization and batch processing techniques.

 

CI/CD and Cloud (Nice to Have):

• Familiarity with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices with Azure DevOps.
• Experience with Azure Cloud services and deployment strategies.

 

Soft Skills:

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

 

Supervision Responsibilities:

• Works with limited direction and oversight
• Provide supervision and direction to team members and staff

 

Job Requirements:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline or equivalent work experience
• Master’s degree preferred

 

Experience:

• 5-8 years of relevant experience
• Global Trade experience is an added advantage

 

Certification Requirements:

• MCSD:AppBuilder or MCSA:Web Applications or MCSA:SQL 2016 Database Development preferred
