Summary of Role

GlobalFoundries is seeking a senior SoC DFT Engineer to help design and verify custom System-on-Chip designs. Working with design and test engineers across multiple disciplines, the successful candidate will contribute throughout the silicon lifecycle and be expected to independently execute assigned tasks, drive closure of objectives, and communicate technical findings effectively. This role includes all aspects of Design-for-Test including ATPG, MBIST, LBIST, and analog test solutions.

This position is well suited to a recent graduate or engineer with up to two years of relevant experience who has a strong foundation in digital design and an interest in developing expertise in SoC DFT.

Successful candidates are curious, detail-oriented problem solvers who enjoy debugging complex systems and learning new technologies.

 

Essential Responsibilities

• Implement DFT architectures including ATPG, MBIST, LBIST, scan insertion, and analog test features under manager guidance.
• Execute test pattern generation and optimization to minimize test time while maximizing coverage and manufacturing yield.
• Apply standardized DFT methodologies and flows to deliver efficient, repeatable results across multiple projects.
• Integrate DFT requirements into RTL and physical design stages through collaboration with design, verification, and backend teams.
• Develop automation scripts (TCL, Python, Perl) for test pattern creation, validation, and analysis.
• Analyze test data from silicon bring-up and production to identify improvements and support root-cause debugging.
• Document DFT implementations, test results, and reuse IP for team knowledge sharing.

• Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

 

Required Qualifications

·       Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; OR Bachelor's degree in a related field with 2+ years of relevant industry experience.

·       Solid understanding of digital design fundamentals

• Coursework or project experience using Verilog or SystemVerilog
• Experience with at least one scripting language, such as Python, Tcl/Tk, Perl
• Self-motivated, collaborative team player able to broadly contribute to project goals
• Ability to analyze technical problems and communicate findings clearly
• Ability and willingness to learn new tools, methodologies, and design concepts
• Ability to work collaboratively in a technical team

 

Preferred Qualifications

·       Experience using Git or another version-control system

• Experience debugging simulation results using logs and waveforms

·       Familiarity with running EDA design tools in a UNIX design environment
