Overview

Build the network that powers one of the world’s largest clouds. The Azure Networking team is responsible for designing, building, and operating the global network infrastructure that powers Microsoft Azure and connects customers and services around the world. As part of the team, you will work on large-scale cloud networking challenges where reliability, scalability, automation, and operational excellence are fundamental to delivering a trusted cloud experience.

As a Cloud Network Engineer, you will apply your knowledge of networking technologies to help design, implement, automate, and operate Microsoft Azure’s global network infrastructure. You will work with large-scale distributed systems, troubleshoot complex production network issues, contribute to network deployments and capacity improvements, and collaborate across engineering teams to continuously improve network reliability. This opportunity will allow you to develop deep expertise in hyperscale cloud networking, strengthen your network automation and troubleshooting skills, and expand your experience designing and operating highly available production networks at global scale.

Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge of network technologies and protocols to contribute to the design, implementation, automation, and operation of large-scale cloud network infrastructure.
• Translate high-level network designs into detailed implementation plans and collaborate with engineering teams and partners to deploy, expand, and improve network infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot complex production network issues, perform root cause and trend analysis, and drive solutions that improve service reliability while minimizing customer impact.
• Develop and improve network automation, tooling, telemetry, and machine-readable configurations to make network deployments and operations safer, faster, and more scalable.
• Analyze network capacity, performance, and reliability signals to identify risks and recommend improvements to network architecture, hardware, software, and operational processes.
• Participate in production operations and on-call responsibilities while collaborating across teams to continuously improve network availability, resiliency, operational excellence, and customer experience. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 5+ year(s) technical experience in network design, development, and automation
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 5+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation
  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
• These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
