Key Responsibilities

1 Linux Governance Standards

Define and maintain Linux OS standards baselines and build images for supported distributions RHEL CentOS Ubuntu

Ensure consistency in OS configuration hardening patching and lifecycle management

Govern OS versioning kernel upgrades and end of life EOL tracking

2 Security Compliance

Ensure compliance with

oCIS benchmarks

oEnterprise security policies

oRegulatory standards ISO 27001 SOC2 PCIDSS as applicable

Lead OS hardening vulnerability remediation and security posture reviews

Review and approve privileged access sudo rules and OS level controls

Work closely with security teams for audits and remediation plans

3 Patch Vulnerability Governance

Define and govern patch management policies schedules and SLAs

Oversee patch compliance reporting and remediation tracking

Govern emergency patching and zero day vulnerability response

Ensure proper rollback and validation procedures are followed

4 Operational Governance Controls

Define SOPs for

oOS provisioning

oBackup and recovery

oIncident and problem management

Review root cause analysis RCA for Linux related incidents

Define operational KPIs and review service health trends

5 Automation Tooling Governance

Govern use of automation tools Ansible Shell Terraform where applicable

Ensure scripts and automation follow security approval and version control standards

Promote Infrastructure as Code IaC best practices for Linux platforms

6 Cloud Hybrid Governance

Govern Linux workloads running on AWS Azure GCP

Ensure OS standards are uniformly applied across cloud and on prem environments

Review cloud VM templates images and bootstrap scripts

7 Stakeholder Team Enablement

Act as the Linux governance SPOC for audits security teams and clients

Provide guidance to L2L3 operations teams

Review deviations and approve exceptions with documented risk acceptance

Required Skills Experience

Technical Skills

Strong experience in Enterprise Linux Administration RHEL mandatory

Deep understanding of

oLinux security hardening

oPatch and configuration management

oCron systemd networking storage

Experience with configuration management tools

oAnsible preferred

oShell scripting

Familiarity with vulnerability tools Qualys Nessus OpenVAS

Governance Process Skills

Experience establishing and enforcing OS governance frameworks

Strong knowledge of ITIL processes Incident Problem Change

Audit readiness and compliance experience

Ability to define SOPs standards and control documents

Cloud Knowledge Preferred

Exposure to Linux workloads on Azure GCP

Understanding of cloud native security and OS hardening practices
