Senior Accountant - Job Description

Position: Senior Accountant

Department: Finance & Accounting

Reports To: Finance Manager / CFO

Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to manage our financial operations, ensure compliance with statutory regulations, and provide accurate financial reporting to support business decisions. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of Indian accounting standards, taxation, and finalization of accounts.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Accounting & Reporting

* Manage day-to-day accounting operations: accounts payable, receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) • Finalization of books of accounts and handling month-end and year-end closing • Maintain fixed asset register and depreciation accounting 

2. Taxation & Compliance

* Ensure compliance with GST, TDS, Income Tax, and other statutory requirements • File GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B), TDS returns, and handle assessments • Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, and government authorities • Knowledge of Companies Act and Ind AS / Indian GAAP 

3. Audit & Controls

* Lead statutory audit, internal audit, and tax audit processes • Implement and strengthen internal financial controls and SOPs • Conduct variance analysis and cost control reviews 

4. Budgeting & Analysis

* Assist in annual budgeting, forecasting, and MIS reporting • Prepare management reports, profitability analysis, and cash flow projections • Support management in strategic financial planning 

5. Team & System Management

* Supervise junior accountants and review their work • Work on accounting software - Tally ERP / SAP / Oracle / Zoho Books / QuickBooks • Coordinate with other departments for financial data Required Qualifications & Skills

Education:

* B.Com / M.Com / MBA in Finance • CA / CA Inter / CMA / CPA preferred 

Experience:

* 3-8 years of relevant experience in accounting and finance • Experience in manufacturing, services, or CA firm background preferred 

Technical Skills:

* Strong knowledge of Tally Prime, MS Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, advanced formulas), and ERP • In-depth knowledge of GST, TDS, Income Tax laws • Hands-on experience with finalization of accounts and audit • Knowledge of PF, ESI, PT compliance is a plus
