Lab Technician

We are looking for a Laboratory Chemist with hands-on experience in conducting laboratory-scale trials and development of various types of resins. The candidate should be comfortable working with chemical laboratory equipment, particularly glass reactors and other glass laboratory apparatus, and should have a practical understanding of resin synthesis and testing.

Key Responsibilities

•⁠ ⁠Conduct laboratory-scale trials and experiments for different types of resins as per defined formulations and process parameters.

•⁠ ⁠Handle and operate glass laboratory equipment, including glass reactors, reaction vessels, condensers, flasks, and associated equipment.

•⁠ ⁠Carry out resin preparation involving heating, mixing, addition of raw materials, reflux, condensation, distillation and cooling processes as applicable.

•⁠ ⁠Accurately weigh and charge raw materials according to formulations and trial requirements.

•⁠ ⁠Monitor and record important reaction parameters such as temperature, time, pH, viscosity, solids content, acid value, hydroxyl value, color and other relevant properties.

•⁠ ⁠Develop and optimize resin formulations to achieve required product specifications and performance.

•⁠ ⁠Conduct comparative trials and identify suitable raw materials and process conditions.

•⁠ ⁠Maintain proper laboratory records, batch sheets, trial reports and test results.

•⁠ ⁠Test and evaluate laboratory samples and prepare reports with observations and conclusions.

•⁠ ⁠Assist in scale-up of successful laboratory formulations to pilot and production batches.

•⁠ ⁠Investigate deviations in trial results and suggest corrective actions.

•⁠ ⁠Ensure proper cleaning, maintenance and safe handling of laboratory glassware and equipment.

•⁠ ⁠Follow all chemical safety, PPE, laboratory housekeeping and waste-disposal procedures.

•⁠ ⁠Coordinate with Production, Quality Control and R&D teams for trials and product improvement.

Desired Experience

•⁠ ⁠2–5 years of experience in a chemical / polymer / resin laboratory is preferred.

•⁠ ⁠Practical experience in resin synthesis and laboratory trials will be an advantage.

•⁠ ⁠Experience with glass reactors and laboratory glass equipment is essential.

•⁠ ⁠Candidates having experience with polyester, alkyd, acrylic, epoxy, PU or other specialty resins will be preferred.

•⁠ ⁠Good understanding of chemical reactions, raw materials and laboratory procedures.

•⁠ ⁠Ability to independently conduct trials, record observations and troubleshoot basic process issues.

Education

B.Sc. / M.Sc. Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry or a related discipline.
