Painter

Job PurposeTo carry out painting, surface preparation, coating and maintenance of plant equipment, structures, pipelines and facility areas while ensuring compliance with GMP, EHS and pharmaceutical plant standards.

• Key ResponsibilitiesCarry out painting and coating activities for plant equipment, structures, pipelines, tanks and facility areas.
• Perform proper surface preparation, including cleaning, scraping, wire brushing, sanding and removal of old paint/rust.
• Apply primer, protective coatings and finishing coats as per approved specifications.
• Paint MS structures, platforms, railings, ladders, supports, doors and other engineering structures.
• Carry out painting of identified utility/process pipelines as per approved plant colour-coding standards.
• Assist in painting and protective coating of tanks, equipment and external surfaces where permitted.
• Perform touch-up and maintenance painting during routine maintenance and plant shutdowns.
• Ensure proper mixing and application of paints, thinners, primers and coatings as per manufacturer's instructions.
• Maintain required coating thickness and finishing quality.
• Protect nearby equipment, floors, instruments and production areas from paint contamination.
• Ensure proper masking and barricading before starting painting activities.
• Maintain painting tools such as brushes, rollers, spray guns, scrapers and related equipment.
• Clean and maintain tools after completion of work.
• Ensure proper storage and handling of paints, solvents and other painting materials.
• Maintain good housekeeping and dispose of paint waste, containers and used materials as per EHS procedures.
• Report damaged surfaces, corrosion and other abnormalities to the Engineering Supervisor.
• Support Engineering & Maintenance teams during plant shutdowns and maintenance activities.
• Follow all applicable GMP, EHS and plant safety procedures.
