Job Description
To ensure that products manufactured meet defined quality, safety, testing and customer requirements through effective inspection, testing, documentation and coordination with production and other departments.
The role requires regular interaction with the factory, production team, suppliers and internal quality team and hands-on involvement in inspection and testing activities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Incoming Material Inspection
- Inspect incoming raw materials, components and bought-out parts against approved specifications/drawings.
- Verify dimensions, appearance, quantity and other defined quality parameters.
- Identify and report non-conforming materials.
- Maintain incoming inspection records.
2. In-Process Quality Control
- Conduct regular inspections during production.
- Monitor critical quality parameters at different stages of manufacturing.
- Ensure production is carried out as per approved drawings, specifications, samples and work instructions.
- Identify defects and coordinate with Production for corrective action.
- Monitor recurring quality issues and escalate them to the Quality Manager.
3. Final Product Inspection
- Conduct final inspection of finished products before dispatch.
- Verify dimensions, functionality, appearance, assembly and workmanship.
- Ensure products meet approved samples and customer specifications.
- Prepare and maintain final inspection reports.
4. Product Testing
- Conduct/coordinate product testing as per applicable standards and customer requirements.
5. Non-Conformance & Corrective Action
- Identify and document quality non-conformities.
- Segregate/reject defective materials or products where required.
- Coordinate with Production and other departments to identify root causes.
- Support implementation and verification of corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor whether corrective actions are effective.
6. Quality DocumentationMaintain accurate records including:
- Incoming inspection reports
- In-process inspection reports
- Final inspection reports
- Test reports
- Non-conformance reports
- Corrective action records
- Calibration records
- Inspection checklists
- Product quality records
- Customer-specific quality documentation
7. Factory & Production CoordinationWork closely with Production, Engineering, R&D, Purchase and Warehouse teams.
- Provide quality feedback to production operators and supervisors.
- Support implementation of quality standards at the shop-floor level.
- Ensure quality issues are communicated and closed in a timely manner.
Key Skills Required
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes and quality inspection
- Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications
- Basic knowledge of measurement instruments such as Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, etc.
- Understanding of inspection methods and sampling
- Basic knowledge of root-cause analysis and corrective actions
- Ability to maintain quality records and reports
- Good observation and attention to detail
- Ability to work on the factory/shop floor
- Good communication and coordination skills
- Basic knowledge of MS Excel and MS Office
Work Environment: This is a hands-on manufacturing quality role requiring regular presence on the factory/shop floor, interaction with production personnel and practical involvement in inspection and testing activities. The candidate should be comfortable working in a manufacturing environment.
