Maths Teacher

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Mathematics Program Lead who can lead our Maths Junior Program for young learners while also contributing to improving Mathematics learning outcomes for students across higher grades.

ROLE PURPOSEThe Mathematics Program Lead will own the development and delivery of Maths Junior – a mathematics literacy and foundational numeracy program for young children.

The role will combine:

The ideal candidate should be someone who can make Mathematics simple, visual, intuitive, engaging and enjoyable, rather than relying primarily on rote learning and repetitive practice.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES1. Lead the Maths Junior ProgramTake complete academic ownership of the Maths Junior program for young learners.

Develop age-appropriate learning experiences covering:

• Number sense
• Counting and quantities
• Basic operations
• Patterns
• Shapes and spatial reasoning
• Measurement
• Logical reasoning
• Mental mathematics
• Problem solving
• Mathematical vocabulary
• Everyday applications of Mathematics

Design learning experiences using:

• Games
• Puzzles
• Manipulatives
• Stories
• Activities
• Experiments
• Visual models
• Real-life situations
• Challenges and competitions

The objective should be to build mathematical thinking and confidence, not simply teach arithmetic.

2. Develop the Maths Junior CurriculumCreate and continuously improve:

• Yearly curriculum plan
• Grade-wise learning pathways
• Lesson plans
• Activity banks
• Worksheets
• Mathematical games
• Practice material
• Assessment frameworks
• Diagnostic assessments
• Progress reports

Develop a clear progression of mathematical skills from early years into primary grades.

3. Improve Mathematics Outcomes in Higher GradesWork with the Mathematics faculty teaching higher grades to identify learning gaps and improve student performance.

Analyse student performance in areas such as:

• Mathematical fundamentals
• Conceptual understanding
• Numerical solving
• Problem-solving ability
• Application of concepts
• Speed and accuracy
• Logical reasoning
• Examination performance

Identify foundational gaps that may be affecting performance in higher grades.

Develop intervention plans for students who require additional support.

4. Mathematics Diagnostic & Assessment SystemBuild a structured Mathematics assessment framework for Gravity Academy.

This should include:

Diagnostic AssessmentIdentify what a student knows and where the gaps are.

Formative AssessmentMonitor learning continuously during the program.

Competency AssessmentMeasure whether the student can actually apply the concept.

Outcome AssessmentMeasure improvement over time.

Create student-level reports showing:

Current Level → Learning Gap → Intervention → Improvement

5. Academic Intervention ProgramDevelop targeted intervention plans for students who are struggling with Mathematics.

For example:

Student A

Weak in:

• Fractions
• Multiplication
• Ratio

Intervention:

4-week Foundation Program

Followed by:

Reassessment → Progress Report → Mainstreaming

The objective is to ensure that students do not simply attend classes but demonstrate measurable improvement.

6. Teacher Development & MentoringSupport and mentor Mathematics teachers at Gravity Academy.

Responsibilities include:

• Lesson planning
• Teaching methodology
• Classroom engagement
• Concept explanation
• Use of visual learning
• Questioning techniques
• Student assessment
• Remedial strategies

Conduct periodic academic reviews of Mathematics classes.

Observe classes and provide constructive feedback to teachers.

7. Develop a Mathematics Teaching PhilosophyHelp establish a common Mathematics teaching approach at Gravity Academy.

The approach should emphasise:

Understand → Visualise → Explore → Apply → Practice → Master

rather than:

Memorise → Practise → Repeat

The candidate should help create a distinctive Gravity Mathematics Learning Methodology.

8. Higher-Grade Academic SupportDepending on expertise, teach or support Mathematics classes for:

• Grades 5–7
• Grades 8–10
• CBSE
• ICSE
• State Board

The candidate should be capable of helping students transition from foundational Mathematics to more advanced mathematical reasoning.

9. Student Performance TrackingMaintain a structured academic dashboard covering:

• Attendance
• Assessment scores
• Concept mastery
• Learning gaps
• Homework/practice
• Improvement
• Student participation
• Parent feedback

Identify students who are:

10. Parent EngagementConduct periodic parent interactions to explain:

• REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSEssentialBachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics / Education / related field
• Strong conceptual understanding of Mathematics
