Robotics Hardware Technician

Manav Robotics is hiring a hands-on Robotics Hardware Technician to test, debug and repair the electrical systems of our humanoid robots, and to assemble and maintain their mechanical sub-assemblies.

Role: Robotics Hardware Technician (Electrical & Mechanical)

Location: Bengaluru (on-site, workshop and lab)

Reports to: Hardware Engineering Lead

Employment type: Full-time

Experience: 2 to 5 years in electrical/electromechanical assembly, testing or maintenance

Education: Diploma in EEE, ECE, Mechatronics or Mechanical

Key Responsibilities

Electrical testing and debugging

• Check and debug robot electrical systems: power distribution units, DC-DC converters, fuses, relays, contactors and E-stop circuits.
• Measure voltage, current, continuity and insulation with a multimeter, clamp meter and bench power supply; find shorts, opens and loose connections.
• Troubleshoot servo motors, drives, encoders, sensors and I/O modules; swap and verify faulty units.
• Diagnose communication faults on EtherCAT, CAN, RS-485 and USB links, including cable, connector and termination issues.
• Build, crimp, solder and test wiring harnesses to drawings; label cables and keep harness routing clean.
• Do first-level checks on controller boards and single-board computers (power-up, boot, connectivity, thermals).

Mechanical assembly

• Assemble, disassemble and rebuild robot arms, joints, grippers, five-finger hands and wrist tooling from drawings, BOMs and work instructions.
• Fit bearings, fasteners, couplings, belts and gearboxes with correct torque and thread-locker.
• Mount and align actuators, sensors, cameras and enclosures on aluminium extrusion frames.

Maintenance, documentation and support

• Carry out preventive maintenance and daily health checks across the robot fleet.
• Log every fault, root cause, fix and part replacement (with serial numbers) in the maintenance log.
• Record parts used against inventory and flag low stock.
• Support engineers during bring-up, testing and customer demos; report recurring failures with photos and measurements.
• Follow electrical safety, ESD and lock-out practices; keep the workbench and lab 5S-ready.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics or Mechanical trade.
• 3+ years of hands-on work in electrical panel wiring, electric vehicles, electromechanical assembly, automation, CNC/robot maintenance or a similar role.
• Confident use of a multimeter, clamp meter, soldering station, crimping tools and bench power supply.
• Can read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings and BOMs.
• Good understanding of low-voltage DC systems (5 to 48V), grounding, fusing and wire sizing.
• Methodical fault-finding: isolates one variable at a time and records what was checked.
• Basic computer skills: Excel/Google Sheets for logs, email and messaging for reporting.
• Can communicate clearly in English; Kannada, Tamil or Hindi is a plus.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with industrial robots, cobots, CNC machines or automation lines.
• Exposure to servo drives and industrial networks (EtherCAT, CAN, Modbus).
• Use of an oscilloscope or logic analyser for signal checks.

Work Environment

• Tools you will use: multimeter, clamp meter, bench PSU, oscilloscope, soldering station, crimpers and wire strippers, heat gun, torque tools, vernier caliper, drill and tap sets.
• Environment: workshop and robot lab; occasional travel to customer sites for robot support.
• Hours: general shift, with occasional extended hours around demos and deliveries.
