Director, Non-Financial Risk

The Group Risk team is responsible for establishing the framework for the management of risks across the Group. The function acts as a close advisor to businesses and is engaged in all key strategic initiatives. They should be seen as a strategic partner with deep relationships that proactively identifies, escalates and supports management of risks.

The role requires close alignment and coordination with Group Risk colleagues in both central teams (Policy, Tooling, Cyber, Sustainability, TPRM) and Coverage (Data and Analytics, Markets, Post Trade and Operations).

Role Purpose

The role leads the oversight and ongoing development of LSEG’s Control Framework, including Material Controls. It is responsible for coordinating Material Control assessments and attestations, providing high-quality reporting and insight to Executive and Board governance forums, and supporting the continued development of the Group’s control, issue management and risk event frameworks.

Key Accountabilities

The role holder will oversee the Group control framework and material control governance, ensuring effective monitoring, reporting and executive oversight. They will coordinate the annual material control assessment and attestation process with senior stakeholders, preparing clear papers, dashboards and insights for the Non-Financial Risk Committee, Executive Risk Committee, Audit Committee and Board-level discussions.

The role will support the Head of Non-Financial Risk in developing the Group Control, Risk Event and Issue Management Standards, working closely with GRC and Technology teams to improve tooling, workflows, data quality and reporting capability. The successful candidate will monitor control effectiveness, assurance outcomes, risk events and issues to identify themes, drive management action and promote consistent, accountable control management across the Group.

Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will bring strong experience in non-financial risk, controls and governance, with a good understanding of control frameworks, assurance, risk events and issue management. They will be comfortable influencing senior stakeholders without direct authority and will have the analytical capability to interpret complex datasets and translate technical risk and control topics into clear management insight.

The role requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, advanced PowerPoint and Word capability, and the ability to produce concise, Board-level materials. The individual should be able to operate independently, manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outputs in a fast-paced environment while promoting a strong risk culture and behaviours aligned to LSEG values.
