Job Summary:

 

Ingersoll Rand is seeking a highly motivated Engineer supporting our ESS – North Americal Business group from IRTC Bangalore, who can thrive and grow inside an interactive & dynamic team where safety, quality, creativity, and continuous improvement are paramount. This role places you in a multifunctional design team, carrying out tactical problem solving in a fast-paced design environment with frequent interaction with engineering functions and personnel. This position requires comprehensive analysis, design and development of Ingersoll Rand’s MSG line of multi-staged, integrally geared centrifugal compressors and a means of long-range planning for continuous effective improvement. 

 

Responsibilities:

 

• Complete design evaluations include but not limited to dynamic and static simulation of rotating systems, rotor design, gearing and airend evaluation, bearing behavior and affected component life.
• The Mechanical Engineer will primarily be responsible for creating and interacting with CAD/CAM models, including drafting and GD&T.
• The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for product improvement ideations.  The Mechanical Engineer will determine relevant testing plans and work collaboratively to implement them in the ETO compressor products. 
•  Production Testing & Field Support: Responsible for ensuring the successful mechanical test and field operation of compressors.  This will involve global test stand and global field operation support as well as a high degree of root cause diagnostics skills, as well as reviewing supplier quality deviation requests and reviewing non-conforming materials
• Tendering Support: In this function, the Mechanical Engineer directly interacts with the Tendering and Design Engineering teams to optimize compressor design to meet customer requirements.
• Customer interaction: The Mechanical Engineer will have numerous internal and external customers.  Must demonstrate ability to effectively communicate to a diverse audience and varying technical levels.
• Work regularly, dependably and independently

• Exhibit technical proficiency while coordinating analytical, design and development assignments in a fast-paced collaborative environment.
• Develop comprehensive knowledge of compressor product models and package subsystems as well as their interaction with each other.
• Suggest and implement product design improvements, which add features or reduce cost and cycle time.
• Coordinate, direct and check the work of others acting in a support capacity.
• Design and analyze components and packaged systems to improve performance, solve recurrent problems and reduce costs.
• Conceptualize, organize and complete, with the support of others, the design of new centrifugal compressor components, applications, or completely new package layouts.
• Actively pursue the latest state-of-the-art developments to stay current in knowledge and market requirements.
• Follow-up with Ingersoll Rand local and international engineering design teams; provide tangible feedback to help improve the team communication and efficiency.
• Record, document, distribute and/or revise work instructions, guidelines, and/or worksheets.

 

 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Mechanical / Aerospace Engineering.

 

Required Skills:

 

• Min 3-5 Years of hands-on experience of working on UG-NX, Team Centre & SAP.
• Experience working within a design or technical team environment
• Strong Work Experience in Turbomachinery Aerodynamics & mechanical design, vibration, FEA, thermal modelling, dynamics or materials
• Static & Dynamic simulation of Rotating systems, Rotor design, Gear Design, Bearing design.
• Capability to develop 3D Models of compressor components, assembly models and convert to 2D drawings.
• Sound knowledge of Casting & Machining processes.
• Sound knowledge of GD& T and latest drawing standards and best practices.
• Ability to work independently.
• Problem solving skills.
• Self-motivated, responsible, clear communication skills.
