The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

 

As a Global Market and Innovation Specialist, Global Procurement, you will support the Polymers and broader Direct Materials team by delivering data-driven commercial insights, supplier and market intelligence, and category analytics that enable stronger business decisions. You will help shape category strategies, identify savings opportunities, support innovation and new product introduction, and strengthen procurement performance across a complex global environment based in the Global Capability Centre (GCC) in India, you will operate as an Individual contributor.

 

This role is well suited for an experienced procurement and analytics professional who combines strong commercial acumen, digital fluency, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable recommendations for leadership.

 

Here, you will make an impact by:

 

·             Coordinate and organize various short-term Procurement initiatives / needs raised by the corporation.

·             Support actions within specific procurement categories to accelerate execution of strategies to realize value. 

·             Own action plans to assist category teams advance strategic initiatives like VAVE, procurement optimization in NPI, and Supplier Innovation.

·             Support the Polymers and broader Direct Category Team adopt and optimize the use of AI tools, including GEP

·             Support weekly and monthly category reporting across defined KPIs.

·             Support category teams with complex commercial models, including vendor-managed inventory, consigned materials, and formula-based pricing arrangements.

·             Serve as a knowledge expert of procurement systems and tools.

·             Provide data analytics support to develop insights and inform strategic decisions. 

·             Work with category leaders to support the development and central documentation of category strategies using standard templates and systems.

·             Develop and manage measurements of Procurement’s innovation and new product introduction contributions.

·             Develop an approach to understand internal business strategies and align applicable category strategies accordingly.

·             Research and analyse procurement category-related data from various sources, including ERP systems, supplier intelligence platforms, market intelligence tools, and the GEP system

·             Identify commercial opportunities and improvement areas within existing supplier and contractual partnerships.

·             Support monthly Procurement Operations reviews and executive presentations as needed.

·             Provide ad hoc support for procurement workstreams such as supplier reviews, tendering, and supplier data segmentation.

 

 

Your Skills and Expertise

 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires, at a minimum, the following qualifications:

 

·             Engineering degree or higher from an accredited institution.

·             Minimum 12-15 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, commercial analysis, supply chain, or related analytical roles in a private, public, government, or military environment.

·             Strong core experience in procurement, category analytics, commercial analysis, market intelligence, and supplier-related insights.

·             Demonstrated ability to analyse complex commercial, supplier, and market data and translate it into recommendations for stakeholders and leadership.

·             Strong data analytics capability with advanced Microsoft Excel skills and working knowledge of SAP, Power BI, and similar tools.

·             Knowledge and experience leveraging AI tools to support data analytics and insight generation.

·             Strong financial acumen and solid mathematical and statistical knowledge.

·             Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create clear data visualizations and executive-ready presentations.

·             Initiative, self-starter mindset, and a positive, proactive approach.

·             Ability to work effectively in a global environment and support stakeholders.

 

 

Additional Qualifications That Could Help You Succeed Even Further in This Role

 

·             Experience supporting Direct Materials, Polymers, or similar global procurement categories.

·             Experience with should-cost modelling, savings identification, and category strategy development.

·             Familiarity with feedstock and index-based pricing models.

·             Experience supporting supplier reviews, tendering, and procurement reporting processes.

·             Strong stakeholder management skills and experience collaborating across global teams.
