Join us as an Infrastructure Engineer
- You’ll engineer infrastructure technology for public and private cloud environments, complying with security, resilience, sustainability and operational requirements with observability and guardrails built in
- You'll play a key role in managing, operating, enhancing and supporting our strategic API Management platform based on Apigee Hybrid deployed on AWS, ensuring high availability, scalability, security and operational excellence across mission-critical banking services
- You’ll also use automation to provide testing and a route to live for the product, working with customers to help them use our products appropriately through a users’ CI or CD pipeline
- This is a chance to work with colleagues across the bank to share engineering best practices, allowing you to expand your network and gain exposure for you and your work
- We're offering this role at associate vice president level
What you'll do
As an Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll contribute to and manage the selection, creation and maintenance of technologies required to meet the needs of our customers, strategic targets and architecture outcomes, along with developing products using modern engineering practices and tools.
A significant part of your role will focus on the Apigee Hybrid platform running on AWS, including platform operations, infrastructure management, security compliance, resiliency, and automation.
We’ll look to you to collaborate with stakeholders to inform product roadmaps, detailing lifecycles of the technology from new products through to end of support and retirement. You’ll also support engineered products and respond to user feedback, new feature requests and resolve production issues wanted by the Product Owner.
Additionally, you’ll:
- Develop technical skills through continuous learning and development
- Work within a team to design intuitive, self-service infrastructure products
- Contribute to the delivery of infrastructure as code solutions
- Work closely with Security, Network, Cloud, Developer Experience, and Application teams to ensure platform reliability and compliance with enterprise and regulatory standards.
- Provide operational support for pattern or product related issues
The skills you'll need
To thrive in this role, you’ll have strong experience in cloud infrastructure engineering, platform operations, and enterprise-scale environment management. You’ll possess hands-on expertise in AWS, Kubernetes, networking, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), with a proven track record of designing, deploying, and supporting highly resilient, secure, and scalable platforms within a regulated environment.
We’ll expect you to bring a good understanding of Agile working practices and toolsets with the ability to relate everyday work to the vision of the feature team, platform and domain.
Furthermore, you’ll need:
- Experience of the development of CI or CD pipelines using modern tooling
- Design and manage AWS networking components, including VPCs, Transit Gateway, Cloud WAN, VPC Peering, Internet Gateway, Route 53, DNS, Global Accelerator, Application Load Balancers (ALB), and Network Load Balancers (NLB) etc.
- Proven experience operating and supporting Kubernetes platforms, containerized applications, and cloud-native infrastructure, preferably using: Amazon EKS, Argo CD, Karpenter, Helm
- Strong experience implementing and operating observability solutions using OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Prometheus, and CloudWatch to support monitoring, alerting, and operational insights.Extensive experience of Infrastructure as Code, particularly Enterprise Terraform, with a focus on reusable, secure, and scalable infrastructure patterns
- Experience of security vulnerability management, remediation, patching, and compliance controls, including working with AWS Config and enterprise governance standards
- Proven experience managing and supporting Apigee Hybrid, including Runtime Plane operations and Environment/Environment Group provisioning and management
