Position Overview

  • As a Release Manager, you will own the end-to-end release lifecycle -- from planning through to post-deployment review -- ensuring best practices and governance are upheld across all application deployments and service introductions into production. You will collaborate closely with development teams, operations, project managers, and business stakeholders to maintain a reliable and efficient release cadence aligned with agile delivery. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, cloud-native environment and brings strong ITSM discipline to complex, multi-team delivery programmes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the focal point for major releases into the production environment, including coordination and support outside business hours when required

  • Develop and maintain the Release Calendar in collaboration with development teams, operations, project managers, and stakeholders

  • Establish and maintain mechanisms for reporting on release progress and ensuring all release gate criteria are met prior to deployment

  • Act as primary point of contact for all production release and change requests; assess and present requests for CAB meetings

  • Contribute to Post Implementation Reviews (PIRs) and drive improvement initiatives based on findings

  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with the Release Management Policy

  • Drive continual service improvement across the release management process

  • Collaborate with Agile delivery teams to integrate release management practices within sprint and PI planning cycles

  • Support senior leadership with financial awareness, people engagement, and corporate compliance activities

  • Monitor deployment pipelines and work with DevOps/CI-CD teams to automate and improve release workflows

  • Stay current with industry trends, ITSM best practices, and emerging release tooling

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of proven experience in an IT Service Management function, with a focus on Release Management or Change Management; Incident, Problem, or Configuration Management also considered
  • Experience and knowledge of ITIL v4, including at least Foundation certification
  • Strong understanding of all aspects of IT Service Management - Incident, Problem, Change, and Configuration Management
  • Hands-on experience with ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow, FreshWorks, BMC, or equivalent tools
  • Ability to process information and generate analysis and reports using MS Office suite
  • Agile/SCRUM Software Development lifecycle experience preferred
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders across all levels of business and IT, including senior leadership
  • Strong multitasking ability and analytical problem-solving skills with minimal supervision
  • Availability to support deployments outside standard business hours (one weekend and two weekday evenings per month minimum)
  • Self-starter with a proactive, investigative mindset - willing to challenge assumptions and drive process rigour
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills in English

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • ITIL v4 Managing Professional or Strategic Leader certification

  • Experience with Azure DevOps or equivalent CI/CD tooling in the context of release governance and pipeline orchestration
