The Role

Airbus’ Information Management (IM) Function is seeking an SAP L3 Expert Developer. In this role, you will bridge the gap between complex quality business processes and high-performance technical architecture.
You will serve as the ultimate technical escalation point for critical production support, resolving complex user incidents when the L2 operations team requires specialized intervention. Working within a dynamic, fast-paced, and international agile environment, you will balance real-time operational troubleshooting with active participation in current, high-value development pipelines to ensure our systems run at peak efficiency.

What You Bring

• Experience: 4 to 6+ years of solid professional experience in SAP development, with a heavy emphasis on advanced S/4HANA ABAP and custom SAPUI5/Fiori architectures.

• Technical Mastery: Proven expertise in creating and consuming SAP OData/RAP services, CDS view development,ABAP 7.5+ syntax, optimizing long-running requests, and handling core interfaces like ALE/IDOC and RFC.

• Operational L3 Support: A strong background in high-pressure troubleshooting, root-cause analysis (RCA) for critical escalated production bugs, source code auditing, and performance tuning.

• Agile Mindset: Comfort working in distributed, cross-functional teams using Scrum or DevOps methodologies, with a clear focus on stable, "first-time-right" hotfix and feature deliveries.

• Customer Focus: Excellent communication and analytical skills, with a proven track record of directly engaging international business partners (specifically European customers) to translate business evolution points into technical solutions.

Qualifications & Experience

As an L3 expert SAP ABAP & UI5 developer, he/she should have a very good understanding of business processes and technical architecture of Airbus SAP landscape and define/suggest SAP best practices and Golden rules. Your area of responsibility will extend to deep technology root cause analysis, performance improvement and source code auditing.

The candidate will join the Quality Product and Service Line structure providing digital solutions to manage quality business processes throughout the Aircraft Engineering, Manufacturing and Customer Services organizations. As such, he/she needs to have a strong customer focus. He/she needs to have regular business interactions for identifying & understanding the Business Evolution Points.

The candidate will work in an international, distributed and multi-functional team using an agile mind-set and methodology.

 

Around 6 years of experience in ABAP Development (S/4HANA with CDS and RAP Model).

Minimum 4 to 6 years of experience in SAP UI5 application development following standard design guidelines.

Minimum 2 to 4 years of functional and technical skills in QM SAP Module within an industrial context (or the proven ability to adapt swiftly as a technical expert).

Deep understanding of multi-tier support ecosystems (L2/L3 escalation models) and standard SAP diagnostic tools (e.g., ST05, SAT, ST22) for rapid runtime analysis.

Interfaces: ALE/IDOC, RFC, Proxies, and Web Services.

Hands-on exposure to In-App extensibility, Fiori Administration, JavaScript, JSON, and XML.

 

Responsibilities

• Understand business processes and technical architecture of Airbus SAP landscape

• Define/suggest SAP best practices and Golden rules. 

• Perform deep technology root cause analysis and performance improvement

• Perform source code auditing.

• Performance Tuning – ability to analyse and fine tune existing programs.

• Excellent communication skills as required to engage customers on requirements and delivery. 

• Good problem solving and analytical skills

• Customer facing skill. Worked with European customers

• Proves value of new technologies to establish business case. Updates the company guidelines and policies regarding the use of a specific technology or methodology.

• Drives the update of the learning framework based on the known technology.

• Advises on specific topics related to the technology and/or methodology.

• Monitors technology and/or methodology trends and support the teams to apply these within the Airbus Environment.

• Guides and supports the selection of the appropriate technologies and/or methodologies.

• Monitors technological trends and uses this knowledge to bring solutions to business units supported to enhance the enterprise’s competitive edge.

• Able to make recommendations for buy versus build decisions.
