As a Mechanical Architect will lead the design of Technology roadmap for Global Diagnostic Cardiology Mechanical Engineering group and develop an implementation plan, in line with best in class technologies. You will provide technical leadership to all the Mechanical Engineers across DCAR Diagnostic Cardiology business unit in driving Innovation, Productivity, Tools and Design Process, Design Reviews, and most importantly have clear thinking ability to design best in class cost effective solutions to address customer needs.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

In this role you will -

• Develop and drive the mechanical technology roadmap for Premium Resting and Stress ECG products, aligned with business, customer, and platform strategies.
• Provide technical leadership for New Product Introduction (NPI), Advanced Technology Development (ATD), product refresh, sustaining engineering, and cost productivity initiatives.
• Own mechanical architecture and detailed design of components, assemblies, electronics packaging, and complete systems from concept through commercial release.
• Lead cross-functional product development activities across Systems, Electrical, Software, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Sourcing, and Service teams.
• Translate product requirements into robust, reliable, manufacturable, serviceable, and cost-effective mechanical solutions that meet performance and quality objectives.
• Perform and oversee engineering analyses, including structural, thermal, tolerance stack-up, reliability, and finite element simulations to validate design requirements and assumptions.
• Create and review high-quality engineering deliverables including 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, GD&T, Bills of Materials, specifications, and design documentation.
• Lead prototype development, system integration, design verification, reliability growth, testing, and technical issue resolution throughout the product lifecycle.
• Conduct and lead global technical design reviews, ensuring compliance with performance, safety, reliability, manufacturability, and customer requirements.
• Drive innovation through new concepts, emerging technologies, platform enhancements, invention disclosures, and differentiated product solutions.
• Promote standardization, modular architectures, design reuse, common components, and supply chain optimization to improve efficiency, quality, and scalability.
• Collaborate with Chief Engineers, Principal Engineers, and Product Management to define product architecture, feature roadmaps, and long-term technology strategies.
• Evaluate industry and competitive trends, identify technology gaps, and recommend solutions that strengthen product competitiveness and market differentiation.
• Mentor and develop engineers, designers, and drafters by providing technical guidance, design reviews, workload leadership, and capability-building opportunities.
• Support manufacturing, supplier, and field-service teams in resolving technical issues, improving product quality, ensuring production readiness, and sustaining product performance in the field.
• Role Purpose:
  Provide architectural leadership for the mechanical design and development of Diagnostic Cardiology products, delivering innovative, reliable, compliant, and manufacturable solutions while guiding technology strategy, product execution, and engineering talent development.

Education Qualification

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 12+ years of experience in leading the design & development of system/subsystem having plastic molded, casting and sheet-metal components
• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred, with demonstrated technical leadership in the design and development of regulated medical devices.
• Preferred Certifications/Expertise: Reliability Practitioner certification, advanced simulation expertise, and extensive experience applying IEC 60601 standards within medical device product development environments.

Technical Skills (Must have)

• Strong expertise in mechanical and structural design, analysis, and verification of complex electro-mechanical systems, assemblies, and mechanisms.
• Proficiency in CAD design tools (Creo preferred) for 3D modeling, detailed manufacturing drawings, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and design documentation.
• Hands-on experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA), structural simulation, thermal analysis, and engineering calculations to validate product performance and reliability.
• Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), material selection, and manufacturability considerations for plastics, sheet metal, castings, machined, and fabricated components.
• Experience in product verification, experimental testing, prototype development, subsystem integration, and design validation methodologies.
• Expertise in reliability engineering, including DFMEA, Failure Analysis, Weibull Analysis, HALT, HAST, Reliability Growth, and Reliability Demonstration techniques.
• Strong knowledge of medical device development processes, including New Product Development (NPD), New Product Introduction (NPI), product sustenance, obsolescence management, and value engineering.
• Working knowledge of Systems Engineering principles, requirements development, functional specification creation, and system-level product integration.
• Thorough understanding of global medical device quality, safety, and regulatory requirements, including FDA, IEC 60601 family standards, UL, CE, CSA, and related compliance frameworks.
• Ability to conduct technical trade-off analyses and make data-driven design decisions that balance performance, reliability, manufacturability, cost, and schedule requirements.
• Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM/PDM) tools such as Windchill, including lifecycle management, ECO/ECR processing, configuration control, and EBOM management.
• Knowledge and application of Six Sigma, structured problem-solving, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Familiarity with medical device hardware systems, their clinical use environment, and reliability, safety, and usability considerations.
• Strong understanding of modern engineering design tools, methodologies, development processes, and industry best practices.
