Job Description

Senior Manager - Clinical Data Solutions

Senior Manager - Clinical Data Solutions

Department - Clinical Data Solutions GBS

Organization – Novo Nordisk Global Business Services (GBS) India

Shape how clinical data systems perform at scale – leading a team that keeps critical research infrastructure compliant, stable, and ready for what's next.

Your new role

As Senior Manager for Clinical Data Solutions (CDS), you will lead a team of System Managers and System Specialists responsible for a portfolio of GxP and non-GxP systems that support clinical data operations. You will ensure lifecycle management, compliance, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across the system portfolio – translating business priorities into clear operational plans while partnering with senior R&D leaders and cross-functional stakeholders globally.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Translating departmental priorities and business needs into operational plans, deliverables, and team objectives – setting expectations, monitoring progress, and addressing challenges as they arise
  • Ensuring reliable technical delivery, audit readiness, and regulatory compliance across digital products and systems in scope
  • Coordinating delivery across assigned systems and services, applying governance processes, service reviews, KPIs, and operational controls to maintain consistent delivery practices
  • Partnering with R&D leaders, product teams, QA, security, compliance, vendors, and business stakeholders to align technology outcomes with business goals
  • Managing resource planning, vendor coordination, and cost awareness within assigned areas, escalating constraints through appropriate channels
  • Driving continuous improvement in ways of working, service quality, documentation, and operational controls – promoting automation and standardisation where they increase efficiency and reliability
  • Developing team capability through coaching, feedback, knowledge sharing, and structured development aligned to service and system needs

About Research & Development

In Research & Development, you'll be part of a unit that explores bold scientific ideas and advances them into clinical testing. We combine curiosity, AI tools, and human data to develop transformative therapies. Through collaboration and operational excellence, we shape and deliver an innovative pipeline to meet future patient needs.

About Clinical Data Solutions GBS

Within R&D, Clinical Data Solutions GBS is responsible for ensuring the IT systems that underpin clinical data operations run smoothly, securely and in full compliance. You will join a globally distributed team that partners closely with system owners, product owners, agile delivery teams and external vendors to keep critical research infrastructure performing at its best. In this role, you will work independently, set direction across cross-functional and geographically diverse stakeholders, and have the opportunity to mentor colleagues within your area of expertise.

Your skills & qualifications

We're looking for a senior leader who thrives in complex, regulated environments and knows how to balance operational rigour with people development. You'll bring with you:

  • An advanced degree (Master's preferred) in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field
  • Substantial leadership experience (typically 10+ years) with at least several years in senior management directing multiple technical teams in complex environments; experience supporting R&D organisations is strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of IT system management, service operations, compliance requirements, lifecycle management, and operational governance in regulated (GxP) settings
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate vendors, manage service levels, and drive operational improvements within agreed budgets and plans
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder coordination, and negotiation skills – with the ability to explain complex technical issues simply, align diverse stakeholders, and resolve conflicts constructively
  • A leadership style rooted in coaching, accountability, and empathy – with experience growing diverse teams and fostering knowledge-sharing cultures
