We are looking for a Software Engineer with 3+ years of experience to design, develop, and enhance modern, distributed, scalable, and high-performance Content Management Systems (CMS) using Java, open-source technologies, and modern software engineering practices. This role is critical to the evolution of Apple’s brand as you will be working with the teams taking apple.com to the next phase of its evolution. We are looking for engineers who are passionate about building modern CMS platforms, solving complex content management problems at scale, and leveraging AI-assisted engineering and agentic workflows to improve both CMS capabilities and software development productivity.

Description

This role provides an opportunity to build modern, distributed, and large-scale Content Management Systems that power apple.com and enable content to be created, managed, governed, and delivered across multiple digital experiences.
You will work across Java backend services, CMS platforms, content architecture, content modeling, workflows, APIs, integrations, search, distributed systems, cloud technologies, and AI-powered engineering workflows.
The role is suited for an engineer who enjoys solving complex CMS problems at scale and is excited about the evolution of CMS platforms through headless architectures, open-source technologies, automation, and AI agents.
The primary focus of this role is CMS engineering.

Preferred Qualifications

Hands-on experience with Java-based CMS or content platforms and their extension APIs.
Experience with DAM or PIM solutions and integrations supporting content-as-a-service at scale.
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms for deploying JVM services.
Experience with caching and search technologies such as Redis, Memcached, Elasticsearch, or Solr.
Experience with event-driven architectures using Kafka or similar messaging systems.
Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (React / Vue / Angular) for CMS authoring interfaces.
Hands-on experience using AI/ML tools and AI coding assistants to accelerate development, testing, and operational excellence.

Minimum Qualifications

3+ years of professional software development experience building scalable, highly available backend and web applications in Java.
Hands-on experience with Java (Java 11 or later) and the Spring / Spring Boot ecosystem, including dependency injection, Spring MVC, and Spring Data.
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience, with a focus on fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.
Experience designing and developing RESTful and/or GraphQL web services in Java.
Working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases and data modeling for content-heavy applications.
Experience with Java build and CI/CD tooling such as Maven or Gradle, Git, and Jenkins.
Experience writing unit and integration tests with JUnit, Mockito, or similar frameworks.
