Job Description
- Tower Crane Operator – Work ResponsibilitiesOperate the tower crane safely for lifting, shifting, and placing construction materials.
- Perform daily pre-start inspection of crane, including brakes, hooks, wire ropes, limit switches, controls, and safety devices.
- Follow lifting plans, load charts, safe working load (SWL), and site safety procedures.
- Lift and move materials such as steel, concrete buckets, shuttering materials, equipment, and other construction items.
- Coordinate with the signalman/rigger and site supervisors during lifting operations.
- Follow hand signals and radio communication from the designated signalman.
- Ensure proper positioning and stable placement of loads before releasing them.
- Monitor weather conditions, especially high winds, during crane operations.
- Immediately report any abnormal noise, mechanical issue, safety hazard, or equipment malfunction.
- Maintain proper logbook/records of crane operation, inspections, and breakdowns.
- Keep the crane operating area clear and prevent unauthorized personnel from entering the lifting zone.
- Follow all PPE, HSE, and site safety requirements.
- Stop crane operations immediately if an unsafe condition occurs.
- Assist maintenance personnel during routine inspection and servicing when required.
- Operate the crane only within the limits of the manufacturer's operating manual and site-approved lifting procedures.
