Shift Incharge

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and supervise the complete store operations during the assigned shift.
• Allocate daily duties to store staff and monitor their work performance.
• Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, grooming and discipline.
• Ensure proper opening and closing of the store as per company SOP.
• Supervise inward, outward, stock receiving, stock transfer and replenishment activities.
• Verify received products against invoices, quantity and product details.
• Maintain proper FIFO/FEFO practices and regularly check product expiry dates.
• Monitor fresh fruits, vegetables and other perishable products for quality, damage and wastage.
• Ensure proper shelf arrangement, product display, pricing and merchandising.
• Monitor stock availability and immediately report shortages, excess stock and damaged products.
• Conduct regular physical stock checks, cycle counts and inventory reconciliation.
• Ensure accurate billing, cash handling and POS transactions.
• Monitor daily sales, UPI/card/cash collections and report discrepancies.
• Handle customer queries and complaints professionally.
• Ensure store cleanliness, hygiene, housekeeping and safety standards.
• Ensure all employees follow company policies, SOPs and operational procedures.
• Coordinate with the Store Manager, Warehouse, Purchase, Accounts and HR teams.
• Monitor daily sales targets and support the team in achieving operational and sales targets.
• Ensure proper handling and documentation of sales returns, purchase returns and damaged/expired products.
• Monitor wastage and take corrective action to reduce product losses.
• Prepare and submit daily shift reports covering sales, attendance, stock, cash and operational issues.
• Conduct shift handover to the next Shift Incharge/Store Manager with proper updates.
• Identify operational issues and resolve them promptly or escalate them to the concerned manager.
• Train and guide new staff on store procedures, customer service and FMCG handling.
• Ensure all store equipment, POS systems and other operational facilities are functioning properly.

Required Skills

• Strong team handling and leadership skills.
• Good knowledge of FMCG retail store operations.
• Knowledge of inventory management and stock reconciliation.
• Knowledge of FIFO/FEFO and expiry management.
• Good customer handling and communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of POS/ERP and MS Excel.
• Good problem-solving and decision-making ability.
• Ability to work in rotational shifts.
• Strong discipline and attention to detail.

Qualification & Experience:

• 12th / Diploma / Any Degree.
• 1–3 years of experience in FMCG / supermarket / retail store operations preferred.
• Experience in team handling and inventory management will be an advantage.
• Tamil communication is preferred; basic English knowledge is an advantage.
