Quality Control Engineer

2. Roles and Responsibilities

1. Inspect incoming raw materials and verify material dimensions, grades, and quality certificates.

2. Perform in-process quality inspections during cutting, drilling, punching, welding, fabrication, assembly, and finishing.

3. Verify manufactured components against approved drawings and technical specifications.

4. Check dimensions using measuring tape, Vernier caliper, micrometer, and other measuring instruments.

5. Inspect welding quality, joint strength, surface finish, and fabrication accuracy.

6. Inspect powder coating, painting, galvanizing, and other surface treatment processes, as applicable.

7. Conduct final inspection of finished products before packing and dispatch.

8. Prepare and maintain inspection reports, quality checklists, material inspection reports, and final inspection reports.

9. Identify defective products and immediately inform the production supervisor for corrective action.

10. Monitor rejection, rework, and material wastage and take steps to minimize them.

11. Ensure that production activities follow approved drawings, work instructions, and quality procedures.

12. Coordinate with production, design, purchase, and stores departments to resolve quality issues.

13. Maintain records of rejected materials, non-conformities, corrective actions, and measuring instrument calibration.

14. Ensure that only approved and inspected products are released for dispatch.

15. Support customer inspections and prepare quality documents whenever required.

3. Required Skills

* Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.

* Knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processes.

* Knowledge of dimensional inspection and measuring instruments.

* Knowledge of welding inspection and surface finishing.

* Basic knowledge of MS Excel and quality documentation.

* Good observation, communication, and problem-solving skills.

* Ability to work closely with production operators and supervisors.

4. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

* Reduction in production rejection and rework.

* Compliance with approved drawings and specifications.

* Timely completion of quality inspections.

* Reduction in customer complaints.

* Accuracy and timely completion of inspection reports.

* Prevention of defective products reaching customers.

5. Reporting Structure

Reports to: Quality Manager / Production Manager

Coordinates with: Production, Design, Purchase, Stores, and Dispatch Departments.

6. General Requirement

The Quality Control Engineer must ensure that no product is approved for dispatch without completing the required quality inspections and verifying compliance with customer specifications.
