Job Description

  • Prepare the operating room (OR):
  • Set up sterile instruments, drapes, and equipment before surgery
  • Ensure all surgical tools are sterilized and ready
  • Assist during surgery:
  • Pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon quickly and accurately
  • Anticipate the surgeon’s needs during procedures
  • Maintain a sterile field at all times
  • Patient safety:
  • Verify patient identity, procedure, and surgical site
  • Monitor sterile conditions to prevent infections
  • Instrument management:
  • Count surgical instruments, needles, and sponges before and after surgery
  • Ensure nothing is left inside the patient
  • Collaboration:
  • Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and circulating nurses
  • Communicate effectively during procedures
