             Finance Specialist – Service Cost Analysis

Location: Chennai
Reporting to: Manager
Function: Finance (Operations Finance)

Position Summary

The Finance Specialist is responsible for driving service cost analysis, margin tracking and financial controls across service operations. The role focuses on ensuring effective COGS monitoring, provision management, profitability analysis and audit readiness. 

Key Responsibilities

 

1. Service Margins

• Track and analyze service costs (labor, subcontracting, materials). 
• Ensure accurate booking of costs against the correct projects, service orders, and cost centers. 
• Analyze entry & exit margins, identify cost overruns and highlight the low margins to the respective stakeholders.
• Perform detailed cost vs revenue correlation analysis to ensure margin accuracy 
• Install base Analysis 

1. Zonal Financial Control

• Track unbilled revenue, deferred revenue, and billing schedules
• Perform validation of billing data to minimize revenue leakages and process gaps

1.  Audit Support

• Support internal and external audits for service financials. 
• Maintain audit-ready documentation (billing, cost, WIP, provisions, credit checks). 
• Drive closure of audit observations and control gaps. 

Skills & Competence

• Expertise in cost analysis, provisions, WIP, and project accounting
• Strong understanding of service accounting, cost structures, and margin analysis
• Hands on experience with ERP Systems preferably Oracle
• Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving abilities 

Candidate Profile

• 2-3 years of post-qualification experience in Accounting, Cost Structure & Margin Analysis
• Should be a good Individual Contributor 
• Hands-on experience with Oracle and advanced Excel.
• Good Presentation & Communication skills
• Inter-CA / M Com / Inter-CMA

Success Measures

• Accuracy of Service Cost Booking & provisions
• Improved visibility of project/zonal margins  
• Strong audit outcomes with minimal observations
