Job Description
Job Title: Tool Maker
Main Responsibility:
Responsible for the manufacturing, assembly, fitting, maintenance, and modification of plastic injection moulds and mould components as per engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Manufacture and fit injection mould components such as inserts, core, cavity, slides, lifters, ejector components, and mould bases.
- Operate conventional machines such as milling, lathe, drilling, grinding, and other toolroom equipment.
- Carry out mould assembly, fitting, spotting, polishing, and trial corrections.
- Read and understand 2D engineering drawings and basic GD&T/tolerances.
- Perform precision measurements okusing vernier caliper, micrometer, height gauge, bore gauge, and other measuring instruments.
- Identify and rectify mould fitting, alignment, ejection, parting-line, and dimensional issues.
- Carry out mould maintenance, repair, modification, and breakdown rectification.
- Coordinate with the design and manufacturing teams during mould development and modifications.
- Ensure components are manufactured within specified dimensional tolerances and required surface finish.
- Maintain proper housekeeping, toolroom discipline, and machine safety practices.
- Maintain records of work completed, measurements, corrections, and mould modifications.
- Support mould trials and implement required corrections based on trial results.
- Follow company quality procedures, work instructions, and safety requirements.
- Ensure jobs are completed within the planned delivery schedule.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in plastic injection mould manufacturing.
- Good knowledge of mould components and mould construction.
- Ability to read engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of conventional toolroom machines.
- Good fitting and assembly skills.
- Knowledge of precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to troubleshoot mould-related issues.
- Experience with mould maintenance and modification will be an advantage.
Experience: 2–5 years preferred in plastic injection mould/toolroom work.
Location: Chennai – Ambattur Industrial Estate.
