Designation-Plant Manager- (Engineering, Utilities & Maintenance)

The job description in a brief:-

The Plant Manager owns every machine and every engineering service on the farm — the ammonia chilled-water

plant (≈ 1,000 TR, three 315 kW reciprocating compressor sets, plate chillers, evaporative condensers), 51 air-

handling units, the electrical installation (transformer, DG sets, panels, VFDs, SCADA), water plant (softener, RO,

STP/ETP, pumps), boiler and steam, the compost yard's blowers, tunnel fans and casing-yard equipment, the

loaders, JCBs and tractors, the cold room, fogging, fire system, the canning unit's and spawn lab's plant when they

come, the old cold storage's machine room, and the buildings' services. In one line: every machine on the property

that turns, heats, cools, pumps or switches is his. He is accountable for their availability, their energy use, their

safety and their upkeep, with his own team of supervisors, operators and technicians. He joins during erection,

witnesses the commissioning with the makers' engineers, and then runs the plant. He reports to the Managing

Director; he works alongside the Farm Manager (production and farm management) and the Head of Sales — he is

not under either of them, and they are not under him.

KRA's:-

1-Plant Availability & Utility Management: Ensure uninterrupted 24x7 supply of cooling, ventilation, steam, water, and power across growing rooms and compost yards, maintaining environmental parameters within target thresholds.

2-Testing, Commissioning & Handover: Supervise on-site equipment trials with OEM and erection teams, validate test certifications, maintain technical documentation, and ensure resolution of all snag lists.

3-Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance: Implement scheduled maintenance calendars across all mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration assets, minimize unscheduled downtime, and supervise vendor AMCs.

4-Energy & Resource Efficiency: Optimize specific power consumption (kW/TR, kWh/kg) and water usage through proactive AHU filtration, cooling water chemistry control, and power factor management.

5-EHS & Statutory Compliance: Maintain plant safety protocols, lead ammonia emergency response drills, secure statutory approvals (PESO, Factory Inspectorate, Pollution Control Board, Boiler Inspector), and enforce work-permit systems.

6-Stores & Critical Spares Inventory: Establish minimum inventory thresholds for critical spares, streamline indentation, and prevent production stoppages caused by stock-outs.

7-Team Leadership & Shift Operations: Hire, train, and roster plant operators, ensuring certified ammonia handling capability and seamless shift handovers across all operational shifts.

8-Digital Logging & Operational Reporting: Enforce daily data entry across SCADA and ERP platforms for maintenance logs, power metrics, and spares, delivering weekly plant performance updates.

9-Expansion & Capex Project Execution: Collaborate with external engineering consultants and vendors to execute utility additions, capacity expansions, and solar integration within budget and timeline targets.
