RAC Operator

Role Summary:

Responsible for operation, monitoring and routine maintenance of refrigeration and air-conditioning systems to ensure continuous and efficient cooling required for plant operations, product storage and employee working areas.

Functional Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor refrigeration, chilling and air-conditioning systems as per operating requirements.
• Monitor compressor, condenser, evaporator, cooling tower, pumps and associated equipment parameters.
• Maintain required temperature and pressure conditions in refrigeration/chilling systems.
• Check refrigerant levels, oil levels, pressures, temperatures and abnormal equipment conditions.
• Carry out routine inspection, cleaning, lubrication and basic preventive maintenance activities.
• Identify abnormalities such as leakage, unusual noise, vibration, pressure variation and temperature fluctuation and report to the concerned engineer.
• Attend breakdowns and support troubleshooting and restoration of refrigeration equipment.
• Maintain daily operating readings, equipment checklists, maintenance records and breakdown records.
• Ensure proper operation of refrigeration systems used for cold rooms, process cooling and other plant requirements.
• Follow preventive maintenance schedules and assist maintenance team during major maintenance activities.
• Ensure proper handling, storage and discard of refrigerants, oils, chemicals and other maintenance materials as per safety and environment requirements.
• Follow laboratory/maintenance-area practices, PPE requirements, work permits, LOTO and other plant safety procedures.
• Maintain housekeeping around refrigeration equipment and ensure safe and unobstructed access to machinery.
• Coordinate with Production, QA and other departments for maintaining required cooling conditions.
