Merchandiser for Home Furnishing Export Company -Job Description

1.    Product Development (PD) & Sampling

· Collaborate with design and sampling teams to develop new home furnishing products (e.g., bedding, pillows, curtains, carpets, table linens, bags) based on buyer tech packs.

·  Oversee the complete sampling cycle, ensuring proto samples, size-sets, and pre-production (PP) samples strictly match the buyer's specifications and get timely approval.

2. Costing & Price Negotiation

· Calculate accurate product costing by analysing expenses related to fabric, yarn, trims, printing, embroidery, stitching, overheads, and logistics.

· Negotiate pricing with material vendors to maximize profit margins while remaining competitive for international buyers.

3. Material Sourcing & Procurement

• Identify and source suitable fabrics, specialized yarns, and home furnishing accessories (labels, zippers, filling materials, laces, packaging boxes)
• Evaluate supplier capabilities (Embroidery units, dyeing units, printing factories & Washing units) to ensure they align with order volumes and quality criteria.

4. Order Execution & Production Tracking

· Create and monitor a strict Time and Action (TNA) calendar to track critical paths and deadlines across all departments.

· Follow up daily on Work-In-Progress (WIP) statuses at spinning, weaving, cutting, stitching, and packing stages to guarantee on-time delivery.

5. Quality Control & International Compliance

·  Coordinate with the quality assurance (QA) team to verify that final home textiles comply with international testing parameters (e.g., colorfastness, shrinkage, thread count).

·   Ensure packaging, barcodes, labelling, and carton assortments comply exactly with strict global retail instructions.

Requirements

·       Degree or Diploma in Textile Engineering, Fashion Merchandising, or Apparel Production.

·       Strong understanding of fabrics, yarn counts, GSM, dyeing/printing methods, and home textile construction techniques.

·       Experience with TNA preparation, cost sheets, and global export document workflows.

·       Flawless written and verbal English communication to interface professionally with US/European buyers.
