Role Description

We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Commis Chef with good hands-on experience in Italian and Continental cuisine to join our kitchen team at Dice & Fork Café, Gurugram.

The candidate will assist in daily kitchen operations, food preparation, cooking, plating, and maintaining quality standards. The ideal candidate should have a sound understanding of Italian and Continental cooking techniques, be familiar with kitchen equipment, and be committed to delivering consistent food quality during busy service hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook Italian and Continental dishes according to standard recipes and presentation guidelines.
• Demonstrate practical experience in pasta, sauces, pizzas, appetisers, salads, grills, and other relevant menu preparations.
• Assist with daily mise en place, ingredient preparation, portioning, and food plating.
• Maintain consistency in taste, texture, portion size, and presentation.
• Follow instructions from the Head Chef and Sous Chef to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
• Maintain proper food storage, stock rotation, and ingredient handling.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and kitchen cleaning procedures.
• Monitor ingredient usage and minimise food wastage.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the assigned kitchen section and equipment.
• Support timely food preparation and dispatch during peak service hours.
• Assist with recipe standardisation, menu trials, and new dish development when required.

Qualifications & Preferred Candidate Profile

• Prior hands-on experience as a Commis Chef or in a similar kitchen role.
• Good working experience in Italian and Continental cuisine is essential.
• Practical knowledge of pasta preparation, sauces, pizza preparation, appetisers, and Continental main courses.
• Understanding of basic cooking techniques, mise en place, portion control, and plating.
• Knowledge of food hygiene, safe food handling, and kitchen sanitation.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Good teamwork, discipline, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
• A culinary diploma or relevant professional training will be an advantage.
