Welder

We are looking for an experienced Welder to carry out precision welding of MS, SS, GI and aluminium sheet-metal components used in industrial electrical enclosures, cabinets and assemblies.

The candidate will be responsible for preparing components, fixture setting, welding, finishing and ensuring that welded assemblies meet the required dimensional, structural and visual quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform MIG/TIG welding of sheet-metal components and assemblies.
• Weld MS, stainless steel and aluminium components as per job requirements.
• Read and understand engineering drawings, fabrication drawings and welding instructions.
• Understand weld symbols, dimensions, tolerances and joint requirements.
• Prepare components before welding, including:
• Cleaning
• Edge preparation
• Alignment
• Tack welding
• Fixture/jig setup
• Set up welding machines and select appropriate:
• Welding current/voltage
• Wire/electrode
• Gas flow
• Welding speed
• Torch settings
• Carry out accurate tack welding and final welding while maintaining dimensional accuracy.
• Control heat input to minimize distortion, warping and burn-through, particularly on thin-gauge sheet metal.
• Ensure proper weld penetration, bead appearance and joint strength.
• Weld enclosure bodies, doors, frames, mounting plates, brackets, bases and other sheet-metal components.
• Perform continuous and spot welding as required by the drawing or production process.
• Inspect welded components for:
• Cracks
• Porosity
• Undercut
• Excessive spatter
• Incomplete fusion
• Burn-through
• Distortion
• Poor weld appearance
• Perform basic grinding, deburring and weld finishing where required.
• Ensure welded assemblies are dimensionally accurate before sending them to subsequent processes such as grinding, surface treatment and powder coating.
• Handle SS and other finished surfaces carefully to prevent scratches and contamination.
• Maintain proper identification and traceability of jobs and components.
• Maintain welding equipment, torches, cables, regulators and consumables in good working condition.
• Report machine problems, tooling issues or material defects to the Production Engineer.
• Maintain a clean and organized welding workstation.
• Follow all welding, fire-safety, electrical-safety and PPE requirements.

Candidate Requirements

• ITI in Welder / Fitter / Fabrication or equivalent practical experience.
• 2–5 years of relevant welding experience.
• Strong practical experience in MIG and/or TIG welding.
• Experience working with thin and medium-gauge sheet metal.
• Experience with MS and SS is required; aluminium welding experience will be an advantage.
• Ability to read basic engineering/fabrication drawings.
• Good understanding of welding parameters and distortion control.
• Ability to produce consistent, clean and visually acceptable welds.
• Experience working with jigs, fixtures and sheet-metal assemblies.
