Role Summary

The Finance Manager leads the finance function and is responsible for accurate accounting, timely reporting, statutory compliance, cash flow and budgeting. The role gives management the financial insight needed to make decisions and acts as a role model and point of contact for the finance team and other departments.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting and financial reporting

• Oversee day-to-day accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger and bank reconciliations.
• Ensure timely month-end and year-end closing, and prepare accurate financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) in line with applicable accounting standards.
• Review MIS reports, variance analysis and management dashboards, and present key findings to leadership.

Budgeting, forecasting and planning

• Lead the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting process with department heads.
• Track actual performance against budget and recommend corrective actions.
• Support pricing, costing, investment and business-case decisions with financial analysis.

Treasury and cash flow management

• Monitor cash position and working capital, and prepare cash flow projections.
• Manage banking relationships, credit facilities, fund transfers and payment approvals.
• Oversee collections, vendor payments and payroll funding, ensuring timely disbursement.

Taxation and statutory compliance

• Ensure timely and accurate compliance with GST, TDS, income tax, PF, ESI, professional tax and other statutory requirements.
• Coordinate with tax consultants for return filings, assessments, notices and tax planning.
• Ensure compliance with Companies Act and ROC filings, in coordination with the company secretary or external advisors, where applicable.

Audit and internal controls

• Coordinate statutory, internal and tax audits, and respond to audit queries within timelines.
• Design, implement and monitor internal controls, policies and approval matrices to reduce financial risk and prevent fraud.
• Ensure proper documentation and record retention.

Team leadership and operations

• Lead, mentor and evaluate the finance team; allocate work, set targets and encourage skill development.
• Be reachable and responsive to management, teams and vendors, so that day-to-day operations are not delayed.
• Coordinate with HR on payroll, reimbursements, gratuity and statutory benefits.
• Manage finance systems (ERP or accounting software) and drive process improvements and automation.

Qualifications and Experience

• Chartered Accountant (CA), CMA, MBA (Finance) or Master's in Commerce (M.Com).
• 8–12 years of relevant experience, including at least 3–5 years in a managerial role.
• Strong knowledge of Indian accounting standards (Ind AS / AS), GST, TDS and corporate laws.

Skills and Competencies

• Proficiency in Excel and ERP/accounting software such as Tally, SAP, Oracle or Zoho Books.
