A&EA partners with product, engineering, security, data, and infrastructure teams to ensure that solutions are business-aligned, scalable, secure, resilient, and cost-effective, while reducing complexity and accelerating delivery.

 

Role Summary/Purpose:

The AVP, Senior Product Engineer is responsible for administering, supporting, troubleshooting, and optimizing SAS Viya environments deployed on AWS and Kubernetes (Amazon EKS). This role requires strong expertise in SAS Viya platform administration, cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes operations, Terraform-based infrastructure as code, security, authentication, and enterprise system integrations.

The position plays a critical role in ensuring platform stability, performance, scalability, and security while supporting modernization and migration initiatives from SAS 9.4/Grid to SAS Viya 4.0. The administrator will collaborate closely with infrastructure, security, IAM, network, database, and application teams to deliver reliable enterprise analytics platform services.

 

Key Responsibilities:

The role involves end-to-end operational ownership of SAS Viya 4 environments and associated AWS and Kubernetes infrastructure components.

• Administer and support SAS Viya 4 environments in enterprise production settings.
• Perform platform configuration, upgrades, patching, monitoring, troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance.
• Manage SAS Viya services, compute environments, CAS, SAS Studio, users, groups, roles, and authorization controls.
• Troubleshoot application, compute, storage, and performance issues within SAS Viya.
• Support and manage SAS Viya deployments on Kubernetes and Amazon EKS.
• Investigate and resolve issues related to pods, deployments, services, persistent volumes, storage, nodes, resource limits, and application logs.
• Configure and troubleshoot integrations between SAS Viya and AWS services including EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, STS, EKS, and VPC components.
• Manage IAM roles, policies, service accounts, permissions, and cross-account accessrequirements.
• Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot Terraform-based infrastructure as code for cloud resources and platform deployments.
• Create and manage Terraform modules, variables, plans, state files, and deployment workflows.
• Configure and support enterprise authentication and SSO integrations using Okta, SAML, LDAP/Active Directory, OAuth/OIDC, or similar technologies.
• Troubleshoot authentication, MFA, authorization, SSO, and role-mapping issues.
• Support platform security requirements including certificates, TLS/SSL, networking, and connectivity.
• Perform performance tuning, capacity planning, and optimization across CPU, memory, storage, and I/O layers.
• Develop automation scripts using Terraform, Python, Shell, and SAS scripting.
• Support migration activities from SAS 9.4/Grid to SAS Viya 4.
• Collaborate with AWS, Security, IAM, Network, Database, and Application teams to ensure seamless platform operations.

 

Required Skills/Knowledge :

Candidates must demonstrate strong technical depth across SAS Viya administration, cloud platforms, Kubernetes, and infrastructure automation.

• 6+ years of experience in SAS Administration.
• Hands-on experience administering SAS Viya 4 environments.
• Strong experience with AWS services such as EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, STS, EKS, S3, Lambda and VPC.
• Strong understanding of Kubernetes concepts including Pods, Deployments, Services, ConfigMaps, Secrets, PVC/PV, Storage Classes, and resource management.
• Hands-on experience with Amazon EKS.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices.
• Experience with enterprise authentication technologies such as Okta, SAML, OAuth, SSO, MFA, or equivalent solutions.
• Knowledge of LDAP/Active Directory and role-based access control.
• Linux administration and troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with SAS Viya monitoring, logging, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
• Experience with Python and Shell scripting for automation.

 

Desired Skills/Knowledge:

The ideal candidate will bring a combination of strong technical capability, operational discipline, and collaboration skills to support a modern enterprise analytics platform.

• Experience with SAS 9.4 Grid/SAS Viya 4 administration.
• SAS Viya or AWS certification.
• Exposure to Helm, Ansible, Jenkins, Git, or CI/CD tools and practices.
• Experience with AWS Glue, Redshift, Snowflake, or other cloud data platforms.
• Experience supporting enterprise production environments and cloud migration projects.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams in infrastructure, security, and application domains.
• Proactive approach to automation, optimization, and operational improvement.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.

 

Eligibility Criteria:

• 6-10 Years of Total experience, 3-4 years of SAS Viya Administration, and 2-3 years of AWS experience, having hood hands-on and knowledge in Terraform/DevOps/Jenkins.

 

Work Timings: 2 pm to 11 pm IST

This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose.
