Senior Consultant - System Management
Job Title Sybase DBA AIX PlatformRole Overview
Sybase DBA responsible for managing maintaining and optimizing Sybase databases on IBM AIX systems ensuring high availability performance and security for critical applications
Key Responsibilities
1Install configure and maintain Sybase ASE databases on IBM AIX servers
2Perform database creation upgrades and patching of Sybase environments
3Manage database devices storage allocation and capacity planning
4Implement and monitor backup and recovery strategies full incremental transaction logs
5Perform database restores and disaster recovery operations
6Monitor database performance and tune queries indexes and stored procedures
7Troubleshoot performance issues including blocking deadlocks and longrunning queries
8Configure and manage high availability solutions replication failover mechanisms
9Handle user management roles and database security controls
10Work with OSlevel tuning and resource management on AIX systems
11Automate DBA activities using Shell scripting
12Monitor database health and set up s for proactive issue detection
13Support application teams in SQL tuning and deployment activities
14Perform data migration refresh and environment cloning activities
15Ensure compliance with audit and security standards
16Troubleshoot production incidents and perform root cause analysis RCA
17Maintain documentation for database configurations and procedures
18Provide 24x7 production support in rotationaloncall model
19Coordinate with infrastructure and application teams for issue resolution
20Stay updated with Sybase technologies and willing to crossskill on other databasescloud
Required Skills
Strong experience in Sybase ASE administration
Handson experience with AIXUnix systems
Expertise in backuprecovery performance tuning and troubleshooting
Knowledge of replication and HA setups
Good scripting knowledge Shell
