Job Description

Steward Responsibilities

Maintaining Cleanliness

  • Ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas.
  • Clean floors, walls, and surfaces in food preparation and service areas.

Dishwashing Duties

  • Operate dishwashing machines and manually wash dishes, glassware, cutlery, and cooking utensils.

Waste Management

  • Properly dispose of kitchen waste and recycling according to hygiene and safety regulations.

Inventory Support

  • Assist in receiving, unloading, and organizing kitchen supplies and deliveries.
  • Notify supervisors of low stock or damaged items.

Support to Kitchen Staff

  • Provide support to chefs and kitchen staff during busy hours.
  • Transport ingredients, tools, and equipment as needed.

Compliance with Hygiene Standards

  • Follow food safety and hygiene guidelines (e.g., HACCP, FSSAI).
  • Wear appropriate uniforms, gloves, and safety gear.

Equipment Maintenance

  • Report any faulty or broken kitchen equipment to the supervisor for repair or replacement.

Setup and Breakdown

  • Help with setup and cleanup for food service, buffets, or events.
