Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Paper Bag Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team. The primary responsibility of this role is to set up, operate, and maintain paper bag making machinery to ensure the efficient production of high-quality paper bags according to customer specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, a commitment to safety, and experience in the paper converting or packaging industry.

Key Responsibilities

Machine Operation & Setup:

· Set up and calibrate paper bag making machines (e.g., SOS, flat bottom, handle bags) according to job tickets and specifications.

· Load raw materials (rolls of paper, glue, handles) into the machine.

· Adjust machine settings to control bag dimensions, print registration, glue application, and folding precision.

· Monitor the production line to ensure machines run at optimal speeds while maintaining quality standards.

Quality Control:

· Perform regular quality checks on finished products to ensure they meet customer specifications (size, strength, print quality, and glue adhesion).

· Identify and remove defective products from the production line.

· Make real-time adjustments to machinery to correct quality issues and minimize waste.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting:

· Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance tasks on machinery (lubrication, blade changes, belt tensioning).

· Troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical jams or operational issues.

· Coordinate with the maintenance department for major repairs or electrical issues.

Safety & Compliance:

· Adhere to all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.

· Maintain a clean and organized work area (5S standards).

· Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.

Documentation:

· Complete production logs and reports accurately (output quantities, downtime, material usage).

· Record maintenance activities and quality control checks.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

· High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.

· [2-3]+ years of experience operating paper bag manufacturing machinery or similar converting equipment (e.g., envelope machines, flexographic presses).

· Experience with specific machinery brands (e.g., Holweg, Windmoeller & Hoelscher, Newlong, Curioni) is a plus.

Technical Skills:

· Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

· Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and specifications.

· Basic math skills (measurement, percentages).

· Understanding of adhesives and paper properties.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to stand for extended periods (8-12 hours).

· Ability to lift up to [50] lbs occasionally.

· Manual dexterity and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with loud machinery.

Preferred Skills

· Experience in the paper packaging or printing industry.

· Forklift certification.

· Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement principles.
