IT Technician Hardware

We are hiring an IT Technician with a good grasp of computer hardware and basic networking. You will support our IT person by diagnosing hardware faults, inspecting circuit boards for problems and helping keep our systems and network running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

Hardware

• Diagnose faults in desktops, laptops, printers, and other office equipment
• Inspect motherboards and circuit boards for visible damage such as burnt parts, bulging capacitors, corrosion, damaged connectors or poor solder joints
• Replace and upgrade parts including RAM, SSD/HDD, power supplies, fans and batteries
• Carry out simple board-level repairs where possible or escalate to a specialist
• Assemble and set up new workstations and peripherals
• Perform preventive maintenance: cleaning, thermal paste replacement, BIOS/firmware updates

Networking

• Assist with LAN cabling, crimping and cable testing
• Help set up and configure switches, routers, access points, and Wi-Fi
• Troubleshoot basic connectivity issues (IP settings, DHCP, DNS, cable or port faults)
• Support users with network access, shared printers and shared folders

General Support

• Assist the IT person with OS installation, drivers and basic software setup
• Provide onsite and remote support to staff for hardware and connectivity issues
• Maintain an inventory of hardware, spare parts, and tools
• Record faults, repairs, and resolutions in a ticketing or log system

Required Qualifications

• Graduation is not mandatory. Practical skills and hands-on experience matter more than formal degrees
• 1-3 years of experience in hardware support, repair, or a computer service/repair shop
• Solid understanding of computer components: motherboard, CPU, RAM, storage, PSU, GPU, and peripherals
• Ability to inspect PCBs and recognize common failure points
• Basic networking knowledge
• Basic Windows installation and troubleshooting
