JOB OPENING: Aluminium Scrap Procurement & Plant Operations Manager

Location: Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh

Salary: ₹75,000–₹1,00,000 per month + performance-based incentives

Experience Required: 5–8+ years in aluminium scrap trading, non-ferrous metal recycling, scrap procurement or secondary aluminium operations.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are establishing an aluminium scrap processing and baling operation in Lucknow and are looking for an experienced industry professional to lead procurement, plant setup and day-to-day operations.

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone with substantial practical experience in the aluminium scrap industry, particularly in sourcing quality raw material, assessing scrap grades, negotiating purchase prices and managing supplier relationships.

The primary responsibility is to establish a reliable, cost-effective supply of quality aluminium scrap. The candidate should already understand the market, know how to identify suitable material and have established industry relationships that can support regular procurement.

The business has a target of selling approximately 20 tonnes of processed material per month, with scope to expand operations based on performance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Aluminium Scrap Sourcing & Procurement — Primary Responsibility

- Source aluminium wire and conductor scrap from reliable dealers, aggregators, industrial suppliers and other established channels.

- Use existing industry relationships to develop a consistent supply pipeline.

- Assess scrap grades, contamination, moisture, steel attachments and recoverable aluminium content.

- Negotiate competitive purchase prices based on prevailing market rates, quality and expected recovery.

- Evaluate suppliers on quality consistency, reliability, weighing accuracy and commercial terms.

- Develop multiple sourcing channels to ensure uninterrupted procurement.

- Recommend suitable grades and procurement strategies to maximise operating margins.

2. Quality Assessment & Commercial Management

- Inspect incoming material and determine its suitability for processing and resale.

- Estimate recoverable material and identify potential losses before approving purchases.

- Understand buyer specifications, quality deductions and prevailing market prices.

- Coordinate with bulk buyers and ensure procurement decisions reflect actual resale economics.

- Maintain accurate records of purchase prices, quality assessments, material recovery and realised margins.

3. Plant Setup & Commissioning

- Recommend suitable hydraulic baling equipment and associated machinery.

- Coordinate machine selection, installation, electrical requirements and operational readiness.

- Supervise plant setup, labour deployment and production procedures.

- Coordinate applicable statutory approvals, environmental permissions and workplace safety requirements.

- Recommend additional equipment or processing methods only where commercially justified.

4. Production & Plant Operations

- Manage daily sorting, weighing, processing and baling activities.

- Supervise workers and maintain production discipline.

- Establish preventive maintenance procedures and minimise equipment downtime.

- Monitor productivity, quality, operating costs and dispatch readiness.

- Ensure safe handling, storage and movement of scrap material.

5. Inventory, Dispatch & Controls

- Maintain accurate inward, processed-stock and outward-dispatch records.

- Reconcile material weights and document all processing losses and quality deductions.

- Verify supplier documentation, weighment records and purchase invoices.

- Coordinate dispatches, delivery schedules and buyer payments.

- Provide regular operational and commercial reports to the owner.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

- Minimum 5–8 years of relevant hands-on industry experience.

- Strong preference for candidates from established aluminium scrap trading, recycling or secondary aluminium businesses.

- Demonstrable experience in aluminium scrap procurement and supplier development.

- Practical knowledge of aluminium wire and conductor scrap, grades, contamination and recovery.

- Experience negotiating scrap purchase prices and assessing profitability before procurement.

- Working knowledge of hydraulic baling presses, industrial equipment and plant operations.

- Ability to manage labour, inventory, quality and commercial documentation.

- Willingness to take ownership of procurement performance and plant operations.
