Fire Alarm Technician

Job Responsibilities

• Installation, testing and commissioning of Fire Alarm & Detection Systems (FAS/FDAS).
• Installation of fire alarm panels, smoke detectors, heat detectors, MCPs, hooters/sounders, modules and other field devices.
• Cable laying, dressing, termination, ferruling and testing as per approved drawings and project requirements.
• Perform loop wiring, address programming and device configuration.
• Conduct continuity, insulation and functional testing of fire alarm cables and devices.
• Assist in programming and commissioning of fire alarm panels.
• Troubleshoot faults related to detectors, modules, loops, power supply, batteries and field wiring.
• Carry out testing of cause-and-effect functions, alarm, fault and supervisory signals.
• Read and understand basic electrical/fire alarm drawings and wiring diagrams.
• Prepare installation, testing and commissioning reports and daily site reports.
• Coordinate with the Site Engineer, Project Manager and client representative during installation and testing.
• Follow site safety procedures, PPE requirements and client safety rules.
• Maintain tools, testing equipment and installation materials at the site.
• Attend breakdown/service calls and rectify faults within the required response time.
• Support AMC/service activities whenever required.

Required Skills

• Basic knowledge of Fire Alarm & Detection Systems.
• Knowledge of electrical wiring, cable termination and testing.
• Ability to use a multimeter and basic electrical testing tools.
• Ability to understand wiring diagrams and layout drawings.
• Basic knowledge of addressable and conventional fire alarm systems.
• Willingness to travel and work at different project/client locations.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• Safety-conscious and disciplined at project sites.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with fire alarm systems such as Honeywell, Notifier, Bosch, EST, GST, Apollo, Global Fire, Agni, Ravel or similar systems will be an advantage.

Qualification

• ITI / Diploma / 10th / 12th with relevant technical experience in Fire Alarm, Electrical, ELV or related work.
