Job Description
Role: Network Technician – ATMS Project
Project: JSR (Melur-karaikudi)
Objective: Support the installation, configuration, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of network infrastructure for the Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS).
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot network switches, routers, PoE switches, media converters, SFPs, and related equipment.
- Configure and maintain LAN/WAN, IP addressing, VLANs, and basic routing.
- Troubleshoot connectivity between field devices and the Central Control Room (CCR).
- Support networking for CCTV, PTZ cameras, VIDS/VIDES, VMS, traffic sensors, radar, and other ITS equipment.
- Troubleshoot Ethernet, fiber optic, SFP, PoE, and communication link issues.
- Perform network testing using ping, tracert, ipconfig, cable testers, and other diagnostic tools.
- Coordinate with field, traffic operations, server/IT, and project teams for fault resolution.
- Maintain network documentation, IP address lists, switch-port details, and network topology.
- Support installation, testing, commissioning, SAT, and handover activities.
- Carry out preventive maintenance and breakdown troubleshooting at project sites.
- Prepare daily/weekly network status and maintenance reports.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma/ITI/Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Electronics, Networking, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- 1–4 years of relevant experience in networking, ITS, ATMS, CCTV/VMS, highway, or infrastructure projects.
- Good knowledge of TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, VLAN, Ethernet, fiber optic communication, and basic networking.
- Willingness to work at highway/field locations and travel as required.
